What did the OP enjoy doing before moving to Manhattan? That would probably be the first question to be asked.

Default Are you kidding?

With 2 lakes in easy driving distance, the museums on Ft. Riley, Aggieville, museums and a great park in Wamego along with 2 pools in Manhattan, staying busy should be easy

The OP will get a wide variety of cultural events at the KSU auditorium, at a discount too. Orchestras, operas, plays, etc. It is something different every month. I used to get a pair of season tickets, so I always had one extra to take someone with me. I saw Carmen, the French National Orchestra, a great ensemble of 6 woodwinds, the list goes on.

You can get in free at the sports complex. Work out, play racquetball, etc.

Also the movie at KSU also brings in some good offbeat movies. It used to be a buck.

I was never bored while at KSU. And if all else fails ... you can STUDY!

Not sure if you are from Kansas or the Midwest, but driving to KC every week is not uncommon for people in that part of the state. People out west in Kansas make routine trips to Denver, Santa Fe or even Colorado Springs. Think of your location more geographically when considering you options.

Plenty of decent golf courses in the area, Rolling Meadows over in Junction City, Stagg Hill out on the highway, Colbert Hills on the northwest side of town, and Wildcat Creek for the beginners. Also, K-State has a great basketball team as well as a strong following of their football team that will keep you busy this fall. Plenty of places to try out the night life too, especially down in Aggieville.

There should be a million college student oriented activities, clubs etc. once the school year starts up shortly. On top of that you will have class work.

Why don't you find out which classes you will take and get a jump on some of the materials? It will give you a bit more free time later on.

I completely agree. Manhatten isn't that small/isolated.
