need info on schools in/near dodge city
Contemplating a job transfer around dodge city. My daughters currently attend all-girl catholic school. Would like to keep them in the same type of environment. Is there anything like that within a reasonable commute of Dodge City?

I just moved out of Dodge a few months Back - I'd never return there, that's for sure - I know the areas well.
There's a few towns near that's driveable -
Here's some towns near Dodge
Cimarron - 20 miles -- Jetmore - 20 minutes -- Garden City (50 miles) Spearville (about 15 miles)
Fort Dodge, etc.......
Good Luck -
- Just goole map for Dodge City, KS and you will get surrounding towns.

There is a Catholic school -
Why would I not move back? Well the schools aren't all that and I'm told by a teacher how bad they've gotten.
The crime is bad - The illegal immigrants have taken over the town - There' are some decent spots but alot of run down area's - I just didn't feel safe anymore, especially at nite. There's like 11 gangs in that town. I saw that on the news a few months back - sad for such a small town.
I wanted better for my kids - And frankly, there's not a thing to do there, unless it's Dodge City Days -

The crime in Dodge City is not that bad -- look up the statistics -- but I'd like a link to where you found that there were 11 gangs in Dodge City. Also, is the Catholic school in Dodge City or one of the surrounding towns?

Clint you obviously do not live anywhere around Dodge. I am a teacher's aide for USD 443 in Dodge and yes there are at least 11 gangs in Dodge. The gang task force has spoken with the school's directly about gangs. The private school is Sacred Heart, I believe it is Catholic. As far as crime goes same as just about any other 30,000 person town. My advice if you want to move to Dodge call the sheriff's office and ask questions. May not like what you hear or they may blow smoke up your butt! The sheriff's office isn't that great. Oh yeah, most of the bad stuff that happens in Dodge is never reported in the local newspaper but in one that is circulated an hour and a half away. If you lived here you would be able to check your facts. Also the schools are at 69% hispanic population for the record.

Ahmsmom3 - You are correct. The stuff isn't reported in the newspapers. You have a better chance of reading the crime from Liberal or Gardens newspaper - regarding Dodge.
I have Told Clint in another thread about the gangs. It's not a good place. I have lived there for many years and my husband lived there all his life. He had enough, I had enough - we finally got out.....My kids needed a safer, better place.
I still have Inlaws there and I wish they'd leave too.
People should not go by statistics - they are not accurate....
The police dept allows Illegals to drive around with no insurance, no valid tags...Why? They claim their hands are tied...
I have had windows busted out of our vehicles and I have seen many places ruined from the gangs and other crap....
Oh and houses exploding because of meth labs...

Clint, yes, the Catholic school is IN Dodge City.
No, I do not recommend moving to Dodge City. If you must, there are good areas of town. It would be a big asset to speak Spanish. As in a lot of places, drugs are running rampant through Dodge and the crimes associated with drugs run high.
