Default Reasons for not moving to Ft. Scott

As I stated, I am not moving.

It is just so unreal, when people do not like something they do something about it. I did alot of checking on this move, and in that I found the town to be friendly enough, but the distrust they have in the goverment, or other businesses. I do put trust in the goverment until I see the prove, or if I question and get a answer to prove it was wrong.

I have read the local forum, and find it pretty one sided. In that I mean that if you do not have the same ideas, or opinions then you don't count. As for paying a membership fee, I don't think so, I belong to a number of small and big forums, and they all are free, and they are interesting because your opinion does count.

So there it is in a nutshell, I like the town, but can not live where people think they know all, and really do not know anything at all.

Excuse me? I no longer live in Fort Scott as I was transferred for employment, but I just finished 3 very enjoyable years there. I was not born there, raised there or anything else.

I am quite politically aware and while I was there I followed the politics very closely. I have no doubt that I can name from intimate memory all the players in whatever forum you are reading. I also was witness to the recent upheaval Fort Scott had in their local politics.

As an avid follower of all things political, I was quite pleased to see DEMOCRACY in action and see the checks and balances of DEMOCRACY in action. The city of Fort Scott acquitted itself very well in a very trying time when some corruption was exposed and swept out.

I AM VERY PROUD TO HAVE BEEN A RESIDENT OF FORT SCOTT DURING THIS TRYING TIME.

And I take umbrage at your unwarranted defammation of a city that most certainly does not deserve it.

I like the town also. And I was in politics, and I do follow it close. I also know to, that when some get turned down for items that are asked for, that they want to see, or they go out of there way to take pictures of things or of people and then spread stories, and then get mad enough to want a grand jury?

In any town you are going to have the same problems,, but I feel that they have taken it beyond common sense. The ones that were arrested. did not have anything to do with the city, and the last I knew, no one from the city has been charged with anything. And yes, the city did acquitt themselves, and did what was recommended for them to do, I do know a number of the city elected and the city manager from my involvement in politics.

And yes, you could name the players, and from the sound of they will be going to other forums by the weekend.

I am sorry that you took offense at what I said, no the city did a very good job in the time of the grand jury, the city was not want I was remarking on, it's some of the people that I was talking about, and the skeltons that they have in the their closets, when they stand there and say I am innocent, I never did anything wrong, but here is what THEY HAVE DONE. I put my faith in the goverment of what ever town, or city that I live in, and I too expect them when they make a mistake or wrong doing is done to admit this, but I just would not feel comfortable living in a town where to me, it was a witchhunt. I just got off work, and hope this makes sense.

Yes Silverhaired51, your last post made sense, CONSIDERING you are admittedly the brother of the City Manager.

The post that doesn't make sense is the one about your "thinking of moving" to Fort Scott, yet your family couldn't tell you about it? Even though YOUR BROTHER is the CITY MANAGER here? BTW, he doesn't live "out in the country" he lives right in town.

I wouldn't worry about moving here now that they are off to Ottawa. Good-Luck to the Citizens there.

I will say that your brother has already started off on the right foot there, having the City Fathers already feeling sorry for him. That usually worked in his favor here. Just not in OUR FAVOR as CITIZENS.

It gets me how you also stated that you knew the City Manager from politics, not from him being your brother?

And what is it that people asked for and didn't get that caused a Grand Jury? ANSWERS Maybe?

Correction: A city official was indicted, the Economic Development Director. As a result of allegations contained in the petition.

For one thing, ISO Truth, I do not know where you got the idea that I am the brother of the city manager there in Ft. Scott, would you enlighten me as to how you think that I am. Because I can tell you with all honesty that I am not a brother of his. Try sister.

As for this post, if you believe me or not, someone else did this under my name. This is the first time that I had seen it.

As for the city fathers feeling sorry for him, you are very wrong on that. No, what they see is someone who, is smart, can look to the future to see what a city can and could be, who is proud of what he does, and most important, he is honest. And, I know that might be hard for you believe, but it is true.

So, we can talk about this under a new topic, or not, I enjoy debating a good, and lively issue. So hopefully, we can on here at times.

I stand corrected Ma'am. Sister it is.

Perhaps you may realize how I would be confused as to the posts, and them not making sense having come from the same person.

Do you know the person who posted using your name?

I have an idea, and since I saw this, and I hope got it straighten out, they (not closely related) will not use my computer. As I have the habit of the signing out.

And yes, I can see how it would be confusing. So, I to am sorry.

I do hope that we can have some more contact here on the forum. I do like to have lively disagreements. Once again sorry for the misunderstanding.

I certainly would be concerned if I were you and someone "not closely related" was using my computer routinely, especially at odd hours on consecutive days at random times of day, over a period of months.

I don't know if it was you, the Sister of our CM, or this "other person" that uses your screen name that stated that there are a "small %" of people in this town that want change. Regardless, I can tell you I am one of them that does, and there are many more like myself that I encounter here in this town everyday.

I can also tell you that in reading these various boards, it is easy to tell that many that have been for the status quo find it necessary to have multiple identities to try to make it appear as if there are droves of people sharing the same opinion. In reality with some simple research and comparing of posts one can easily see that it boils down to being only a few of you that are either related or otherwise close to Nienstedt, and it doesn't add up to very many.

The "set-up" topics and banter are sometimes amusing, especially to see the almost identical posts among the group, and screen names which have common references to each other from board to board.

Isn't it a small world that many of you who post about "knowing Fort Scott" are from other parts of Kansas in different directions, yet end up in Oklahoma at the same place for recreation? When it comes to Town Hall meetings here or Candidate forums they say they "weren't able to make it". Duh! When they live hours away and aren't registered to vote here that is understandable.

What I don't understand is this repetitive accusation to some of us citizens that we think we "know it all", or "you don't have the facts",or "I only deal in facts", and "all it takes is a call to the friendly folks at City Hall to get answers" etc, etc. Yet when ever I confront an issue with a question that requires factual information they duck and run to another thread.

So I am looking forward to discussing some issues with you here. I'm just trying to figure out how I will know that it is you, and not the other person who you think you may "have an idea" of who it is, that randomly uses your computer and pretends to be you.

Yes, I was concerned, but I have since taken the steps to make sure that it does not happen again.

You have your thoughts, just as I have mine. I have kept up on everything, as I am proud of my brother, and will stand byside him. In every town you have 50% that want change and 50% that thinks everything is great. I do feel that this is going to be a great move for my brother and family and it is also going to be a good move for Ottawa, as for Ft. Scott.

As for Oklahoma, I love going there and I see a great deal of trucks, from Kansas and have seen them from Burboun County as well as from other counties in Kansas, what does that make me a crook? No, just someone that enjoys riding the sand and spending town with very dear old friends. And yes I like to brag about the fact that I ride a sports quad, I will not say that I am sorry about that. Do you go and play in the sand? If you do then you know what I am saying. But that would be for another topic, and believe me, I could go for hours talking about the fun trips we have made there!!!!!!!!

I have been to town hall meetings, but never in Ft. Scott, I take a interest in politics, and somewhat keep up on what does interest me, as for candidate forums, if they are upbeat, with a honest plan of what the candidate wants to do or seen down, and does have facts to back up what they want, then yes, I would go, I would even go if I didn't live in the area, because it interests me, not for any other reason. Here it is I think that it is important to be able to have faith in people, it is how I was raised, I will defend my family, my kids, and grandchildren. And if I get that from a candidate then all the better.

So, you can read this post and go back to other ones that you think that I am, you might see some things that are similar, or see what you want. I could try and convince you that I am only one person, and not many others, but I would be wasting my typing. But, I do hope that we can hold and type a civil discussion on any number of things. The only thing that I ask or that I will say is that I do defend my family, that does not mean I will not discuss things that are going on in your town, but I will not listen to insults about my family. So, that being said, I will stop typing as my fingers are sore

I do hope to be able to have discussions with you and anyone else that like to join these forums, I for one love this one forum, as you can ride about alot of things.
