Default Lebanon, Smith Cty / Nicodemus KS

I am a writer living in Michigan working on a novel which takes place in / around Lebanon, KS, in Smith County. Also, one of my main characters has ancestral ties to Nicodemus (Graham County) and the "Exodusters". I would be grateful for any information on Lebanon and Smith County, especially photographs of the town and surrounding areas.
Also, would like to correspond with anyone who can answer basic questions about the area -- commerce, agriculture, local "color" and the like.
I am almost 70 and cannot make a research trip myself or I'd be there doing the legwork myself.
Thanks, and God bless you!

I would start out at the Kansas Historical Society's website. Nicodemus is a National Park site so I would think NPS would have some info on it. Nicodemus was settled around 1877 as part of the first mass migration out of the south. Entrepreneur , "Pap", Singleton sold blacks in Tennessee on the idea of relocating to Kansas. He started a settlement in Baxter Springs, KS also. The first years were pretty tough ,many of the Nicodemus settlers were taken in by Other refugees and imigrants like the Swedish, Germans, Unkranians, Volga Russians, who brought Winter Wheat to Kansas.
