Default Rain, Rain Go Away..........

Are the other areas of KS getting totally soaked? We had drought and hot temps for the longest time which wiped out the garden last year and killed most of my berry bushes and now, it won't stop raining. I went out to the yard and as I walked it the whole area sounded like walking in a wet tennis shoe and sock! It breaks my heart to see water pumping from the cellar into the street to go to the river but I could never store this great of quantity for later use. Everything has started to bud and I am wondering if it will freeze again and betting it will. I know the weather is crazy everywhere but this feast or famine rain has gotten old over the last couple of years.

You should consider adding a rain barrel to your property so that water runs off into the barrel for easy irrigation. You can also setup a rainwater collection device from gutters as well. I hear ya on the extreme weather. Areas East of the Mississippi river have been in the 80s for days now, including Michigan stretching all the way to Maine. Temperatures have been running 35-45F above average. I have never seen anything like it. It appears extreme weather is becoming the norm as global temperatures continue to get warmer.

NE Kansas is soaked too. We've had days and days of rain. Between all the wetness and the warm winter fleas, ticks and mosquitoes are going to be insane this year!

Been raining for three days, and last I looked at the forecast it said two more cloudy days then sunshine on Saturday. I'm about ready to listen to sad country songs and cry.

It is supposed to stop on Saturday here. I mowed a week ago and the grass is probably 7 inches long in the front yard so plans for the weekend should be simple enough. We will need wind to dry it out but wind usually isn't a problem. There is a lot of mud though, tons of mud, the sticky Kansas kind!

Think about getting a rain barrel? It works great.

I know, our neighbors up the street have a couple of the rain barrels. We have 8 large garbage cans that we pump water into from the cellar for our garden but this year I am not planting one. As of today, I am fed up with Kansas totally and the rain is not the biggest problem here. Think the government, the way things are run and southeast Kansas! We had sunshine a couple of times today though so we are working our way back to fair skies.

Best of luck in your new location. Might I suggest California or Michigan?
