The lack of growth in Kansas and the loss of population is not because the state is conservative. Actually the current legislation is what convinced me to stay, at least for awhile. Defining marriage as between a man and woman was a definite plus and seeing Manhattan "Awaken" and now Kansas trying to "awaken" makes a big difference to me. That LGBT thing based in Salina will more than likely get kicked to the curb where it belongs just like they did in Manhattan and I would see the biggest reason being that they do not want a great influx of LGBT population. In Salina, they have not given any exclusions for religious organizations which recognize the sin and other mental health issues associated with the LGBT community. I know there is a business in town which most people do not go to because they have two homosexual men that like to be amorous behind the counter so I'm guessing this area probably won't be a target and have heard that the city council in Pittsburg had this whole LGBT discrimination brought in front of them in March and have not acted on it. You cannot force acceptance by legislating it and that is the goal. I believe that Kansas has been targeted by the LGBT community because it is conservative. You got to wonder how many other not only immoral and abnormal lifestyles will try to be forced upon us and it is more than clear if you are watching that pedophilia is the next frontier. Not a lot of people think constantly about their sexuality and consider it an element in every endeavor in their life. I think we all try to associate, work with, etc. people that share a common value system and now, that is considered wrong?

No, the reason that Kansas has seen little growth at all is because it offers very little outside of Johnson County based on the fact that jobs pay next to nothing, few amenities are available, a resistance to any change, and other numerous factors that I won't even touch on. Kansas is an unbalanced state because all the taxpayer dollars, corporate welfare, infrastructure investment, and educational attainment of the populace is concentrated in Johnson County and the areas immediately surrounding it. The rest of the state has mostly been left behind to decline and stagnate, and this has been going on for a very long time. What defining attributes are really going to draw in people to places like Wichita or Topeka? The vast majority of the good paying jobs in specialized career fields are in the Kansas City metro area.

Jesus would tell them to repent and sin no more. He's the one that defines the guidelines of marriage in the sermon of the mount being between man and a woman. Look it up (Matt 5,6,7) if interested in what the Lord Jesus had to say about it.
So let's just round up the sodomites and put them in concentration camps to die

Your whole argument against gay people rests on the ignorant premise that it's a choice. No human chooses which sex they're able to fall in love with or have sexual attraction. This whole "they choose to be gay" line of ignorant reasoning is dying off as younger generations understand.

This whole thread just reaffirms my decision to leave Kansas and never return, if I can help it. The ignorant comments here are pathetic

Of course you're right about parental involvement - we all agree about that. Back then, we had it....today, we don't. The difference is the decay of the family unit caused by social liberalism over the last 40 years.
Yeah, those wonderful '50s. Ask a black person your age how much they enjoyed the racism Or ask an abused housewife with nowhere to turn how she enjoyed the '50s. You can white wash it all you want, but there were plenty of problems back then.

Typical left-wing talking points and dogma.

How many older black people have you talked you in any depth? I've talked to many who voice their own fond memories of the 50s because their communities were so much safer and families so much stronger. No one black or white wants to go back to "back of the bus" segregation, but black and white communities alike greatly benefited from 50s social conservatism and have been decimated by the social liberalism that has all but eliminated every last standard of human conduct and behavior that ever was.

Certainly I could never live there and I'm not even gay.

Seriously, are they trying to convert them. Oops, forgot not a choice. You cannot tell by looking at a couple whether they are friends or lovers unless they tell you or act in a way that seals the deal. So, homosexuals are afraid the landlord will come in and see one bed and evict them? Seriously, this is inline with that story about the homosexual teen who wore a shirt to school to the effect that Jesus was not a homophobe. Now, if I wore mine bearing Levitus 18:22...................You only need to be able to spell one word to describe what is going on "a-g-e-n-d-a". A "special" group is looking for "special" consideration and to trample all over the rights of others. Seriously, too, it would not be out of line for two adults of the same or opposite sex to share one larger bed. Boy, talk about judging the book by its cover! To most, they don't spend their time obsessed with their sexuality and what other people are thinking about it.
Wrong.

I've lived in Kansas nearly my entire life. The vast, vast majority of fellow Kansans I have met don't give a crap whether someone is gay or not. I know it's not real scientific but there it is.

Just as a side note; I left my purse in a cart at the Manhattan Wal Mart this morning. I didn't realize it until I got home and, panicked, I raced back to the store. Someone had brought it in to customer service without taking a thing, including the cash in my wallet. If I knew who it was I would have given it to them I was so relieved. So talk all you want about the downfall of Kansas. I think I'll keep it.
