I just moved to Clay Center and I'm desperate to find something to do- or to talk to someone who knows the area...

You would have better luck meeting new people in Manhattan instead of Clay Center. Plus, Manhattan always has a plethora of activities going on and really isn't that far of a drive.

Try making the drive to Manhattan. Kansas State University is there, catch some sporting events, tour the campus. Or go down to Abeline, KS and see Dwight D Eisenhower's museum and boyhood home and see the old cowtown and antique shops, oh and they have a chocolate factory there too.

So, what does the OP like to do? Shop? Fish? Hunt? Reading group at the library? Church? Volunteer?

Salina also serves as something of a "hub" of sorts of the area, though admittedly that somewhat further west than Clay Center.

Clay Center use to be a very friendly town...However new people move in and want changes. The people are nowhere as friendly as it use to be, the cost of living is as high as living in Manhattan or Wichita Ks. It is a town that says what you are and who you are is how you will be treated. So if you want a friendly, affordable community to live in it is not here. I was born and raised here and I hate it and what it has become.
