OK, 1. Yes, I mean families and individuals who are government-dependent. Just doing a little checking on car tags and people asking for directions to the welfare housing because they have an appointment gives one an idea of where the people are coming from. Of course, you have families that have always been on welfare yet I don't understand how because I thought there was a limit.

2. I can tell you why I think it is easier, "workcount" which I am sure you are familiar with as a term. With the fastest growing population being over 80 years old, you need to replace them with something since no one lives forever. They also lost a number of people, an entire generation because of the insurance industry closing. BEDCO, the economic development group put in $80,000 for two years to keep SRS open because the 30 jobs were considered "good jobs" for the area.

3. Welfare. Public assistance: Vision Card, low or no cost housing (they put in new townhouses adding to the available housing), Medicaid, cell phone and other goodies provided for "low" income and there are many.

4. Although I am in one town specifically, I have heard from people in neighboring towns that is not better there. Look at the stats on crime and poverty and it will tell the story. The tax burden on the rest of the population continues to grow especially the property tax. I feel sorry most for the working poor since in reality, from the computations that I have done, they would be much better off if they just gave up and let the taxpayers support them. I guess integrity separates the working poor from the able-bodied living off Uncle Sam?
