You're right
It was called the Green Parrot. I did a little research in the archives of the Joplin Globe about the bar in Galena on 7th St. According to the paper it was called "Valley of the Dolls" (although I think it had another name before that). A dancer disappeared from the club in 1991 and was never found so it was in the news for a long time. The case was reopened around 2003 and I remember driving by the building but now can't remember exactly where is was. I'll have to ask around. On another note, there's a new deli/gift shop on Main Street called "4 Women of the Route". It's a remodeled gas station which draws quite a bit of attention because the tow truck that inspired "Tow Mater" in the movie "Cars" sits out front. My great niece and nephew were recently here for a visit from California and I'm pretty sure "Tow Mater" was the highlight of the trip.

thanks flossyflo
Do you remember where it was? I drive 7th St. every day and have been looking. As you leave Galena going toward Riverton on 66/7th St. among other things there's the museum/city hall then a store that used to be Dale's Apple Market then some mobile homes. Someone in an earlier post said it's now a house but not sure where. Was it somewhere in that area or closer to Riverton?
In my previous message I said the deli in Galena is "4 Women of the Route" but it's called "4 Women on the Route". Sorry for the typo.

Joplin has as many cave ins as Galena they just dont report in the news. Because it is nothing ti brag about. Galena has several new businesses the further north on Main Str ( Historical Rt 66) you will find a celebrity. A boom truck that inspired Tow Mater in the Movie cars.1839 visitors stop by to say hi from all over the world in 2008. So take a drive through Galena down Main Street America and see what is going on in Galena

I believe that the bar is now in the center of a half circle of trailers. All painted the same color.

There was Bucks, Ninas Green Parrot, Freddys gogo, The Duck inn, and I believe The Golden Eagle. West of town was Sargent Peppers.
