My fiancee and I live in Wichita and drove along the scenic route to Council Grove. We have discussed the possiblity of remodeling an old house or build from stratch preferably on some acreage. Is there ANY chance of this happening? We saw a few houses for sale in Council Grove and needless to say, they were beyond our price range.

My great grandfather, James W. Teter was the namesake for Teterville. He raised cattle in Greenwood and Butler counties. My grandfather C.R. Nuttle had a large ranch south of Teterville in the Rosalia area. I now own part of CR's ranch and cattle still graze on some of the last of the tall grass prairie. Someone mentioned the -Z ranch which was connected to the TZ ranch which belonged to my great aunt Helen Teter Zebold the last of James W.'s children.

I love it out there too. My favorite was the guided tour of the Tallgrass Prairie Preserve. I like the frontier flavor of it all.

I like ranch rodeo. My wife is normally opposed to most rodeo, but even she likes ranch rodeo. It's really impressive to see what a good cowboying crew can accomplish without unduly traumatizing the stock, and easy to forget when watching that the first prerequisite for all of it is to combine excellent horses with master horse(wo)manship.

My wife and I just came thru the Flint Hills June 26th and really enjoyed them. We were on our way to McCook, NE to spread my mothers ashes on our old ranch.

One thing I don't understand is when people say Kansas is FLAT and boring. That is so untrue and if you look hard enough anything has beauty in it.

We also noticed the grass was the longest I had seen even when I was a kid growing up and when we did a little 4 wheeling on the ranch it was hard to see where the holes were.

We love it so much back here in KS and NE area we are moving to McCook, NE soon.
