historic change in township or counties?
My mom was born in Junction City in 1920, in what was listed as Geary County, Township of Smoky. But the Township of Smoky is now listed as being in Sherman County. Did the boundaries change as some point?

Are you sure that your information is correct? Sherman County is located near the Colorado border, while Geary County is located in east-central Kansas. The county boundaries in Kansas have not changed in a long time based on my knowledge.

junction city
Hallo , I´m from germany. My English isnt perfect. I hope you understand me. I´m searching for relations in Junction city. The sister of my grandma lives there. I dont think she haves a emailadress. She is too old, I think. But I dont now who the kids are, or where. Who can help me? It isnt very important, but I would be glad to know them and post them over the net.
Thank you for all help

This is just a hunch, based upon my geographical and place name knowledge, but check to see if the Township name isnt actually Smoky Hill Township, as opposed to Smoky. The Smoky Hill River and the Republican River merge at Junction City (hence the name) to form the Kansas River, so I would suspect that its quite possible there is a township in Geary County named for any of those three rivers, such as Smoky Hill. If this doesnt work, try contacting the Junction City library and see if there is a similarly named township in Geary County or if there is a geneology section at the library or a geneological society in town that you could contact.

Isn't it possible that there could have been two Smoky Townships in Kansas?
