It's a pretty small, boring place. I'm from Arkansas City. What are you looking for in a town? If you want a slightly bigger place with more to do, I'd look at El Dorado, Augusta, Douglass, Derby, all are good places, and plenty close to Wichita. If you want to consider Oklahoma, I'd recommend Ponca City. It's not too far from Coffeyville.

If you go to the Google Map homepage and then zoom in without changing the default "center" of the earth's map, it will land you in Coffeyville, KS. May be a small place on the map, but hey, they are semi-famous now.

Thumbs down i live in Coffeyville

I live in Coffeyville and I personally think its one of the most boring places in the world. Everyone pretty much leaves town and goes to Bartlesville to do things. The have a Wal-Mart here a regular one supposed to get Supercenter within 2 years. @ grocery stores. Little dinky places for clothes and some resturants all but 1 are just awful!!!!!!!! All the bars look run down gross and it sometimes smells like rotton eggs from the factorys. Not a bad little town I suppose but hope you have a good car so you can leave town to do stuff.

If you like history, the dalton gang tried to rob two banks at the same time and were shot up. many movies made about it, and also the real west doc. a little meuseum and the brown mansion is there. other than that not much to do.

I am from Coffeyville, I did not move there from somewhere else, I am bias to my home town and I can tell you ANYTHING you want to know.
First off, Coffeyville is boring...lol but when I was a kid it was a blast.
Being an adult, you are with in a short drive of Tulsa, Bartlesville or Joplin, Mo and can go there even on a weeknight without getting back late.
Like stated above, if you are into history the list is long and exciting.
Being from Coffeyville, you can lift your head up high knowing that the entire town banded together and stopped the most notorious gang of thieves in US history. They still band together today, helping one another with the recent floods of July 2007. It is a close knit communty, I can walk down the street and alot of people know who you are because they take time to get to know you, granted it helps too if your family makes a good name for themselves.
There is ABSOLUTELY nothing to do there...lol UNLESS you like sports. Coffeyville is very proud of their kids and Community College.
There are two golf courses (atleast you dont have the play the municiple course twice because it used to be 9 holes, it is 18 now...lol)
One person above asked about lakes, how many lakes you want? You can take a 20 minute drive northwest to Elk City lake, 40 minute drive northeast to Big Hill Reservour, 15 minute drive north to Montgomery County State Lake, go south into Oklahoma and within 30 minutes you could be at Copan, Oolagah, and Hulah Lakes.
If you want to know anything...give me a shout!

It can flood in SE Kansas. Coffeyville has one of the lowest elevations in the entire state of KS. A good area of SE Kansas was hit rather hard by flooding last Spring/Summer. I would make sure to purchase flood insurance just to be safe. Areas of SE Kansas average more rainfall per year than Seattle, WA. The average annual precipitation is above 40 inches across most of the area.
