Default Property taxes?

Hi,

I'm just curious how the property taxes are in Kansas, maybe in or near KC? I live in AZ and pay $1100 for a 1400 sqft home that I paid $300k for. How does that compare? I know our taxes are very cheap. Thanks!

That is very cheap for taxes. I am a mortgage broker & from my past experience in the Wichita area, I can tell you that a home valued at 300k would have taxes in the approximate amount of $4500 per year. But you also need to take into account that some homes have specials & some dont.

Hi Bsanders. Can you give me a rough estimate of what an approx. $155,000 residential property would be in taxes? How is the tax structure figured? For instance, in Calif.; the tax is based on sales price and then is limited by our Proposition 13, which does not allow annual assessments to raise expoentially and, in fact, dictates that re assessment occur every two years w/a 2% cap. Additional taxation can occur through voter mandated bond measures, etc. but, otherwise, no major jumps in taxes. The killer about this is that property is extremely expensive in Ca. and so, demands more taxation, anyway due to high prices. I don't know what the base tax is...never looked it up; just accepted that our taxes are not as high comparatively....here, tax on assessed value of $200,000, for example, is about $2,000.

jackrackham is an unknown quantity at this point
taxes in kansas are outragous, and you are not getting anything for the $, Kansas is not exactly the tourist meca of the usa, arkansas which is much more beautiful than kansas has much lower taxes than kansas and more to offer. Does the wage rate run that much higher to offer the incentive to buy here? I can tell you that 3/4s of the nation is lower in taxes than kansas. I guess only people who live in wichita and farmers can afford to live here.
you can rent in half the country for less than the taxes on homes in kansas.
