Default Do people have inground pools in Kansas?

How long are the summers? Is it worth it or are the summers too short?

Of course there are. Most cities have public pools too, open from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Summers are hot, humid and if you had your own pool, you could use it from late April to early October.

We have inground pools/public pools here in Denver too. This lattitude isn't the arctic circle, you know

Thanks. Lawrence, KS is one of the places we will be checking out (along with some other college towns in the midwest). I had always had my heart set on having a pool someday. I wasn't sure that it was feasible in the midwest. Are you familiar with Lawrence? Any opinions?

Lawrence is a good town overall. The newer area is on the west side (mainly cookie cutter houses) and the older areas are on the east side and closer to the Downtown area. Many people live in Lawrence and commute to jobs in Topeka and the KC metro area.

I went to college there and have nothing but fond memories of Lawrence. It's a great town with lots to do. In ground pools aren't as common here as in Phoenix or L.A., but some people have them and you'd be able to find someone to build one. I used the pool at my apartment complex when I lived there. Most apartment complexes have a pool in Lawrence and I'm there's a public pool as well.

I'd suggest visiting Lawrence to get a feel for it. It's hilly (for Kansas), has a lively night life with all the students, lots of interesting shops and restaurants downtown and a real sense of community. Although western Lawrence looks more like "any suburb USA" now.

Lawrence has a public pool it is in a park across the street from the library. Most people have above the ground pools. Check with the city about regulations before you begin work.

I've lived in Lawrence, grew up in NE KS in a small town, and hope to possibly move back to Lawrence or Manhattan at some point.
