Many years ago, my father served during his second enlistment in the Army at Ft. Riley Kansas when he was in the cavalry. That was before WW II, when we still used horses. In December one year, possibly 1931 or 1932, there was a fire there, the stables burned and my father had to get some horses out thru that inferno. It was quite a job, getting horses thru the fire when horses are afraid of fire!

Later, my father had to escort a body back to Missouri. The man had burned to death in that same fire and his folks wouldn't claim the body until the mother identified a ring on her son's finger. Then, she broke down in tears.

It has a very rich history if you're interested, you'll be blessed.
