Close, I grew up in St. Paul, wife in Parsons. My dad managed a game refuge outside of St. Paul, worked for Kansas Fish and Game for like 40 years before he retired. What a great childhood, hunting, fishing, trapping, etc.!!

Default Cherryvale - childhood home

To the one who left C-vale in 1959 at the age of 14:
I left C-vale in 1955 at the age of 9. Wondering if, perhaps, we were in school together. I remember being at McKinley Elementary with Mrs. Devanthaw (sp) as my 4th grade teacher (3rd grade was Mrs. Jones). Does this ring any bells for you?

Default Fourth Grade at McKinley Elem. in Cherryvale KS

Saw your post and wondered when you were in Mrs. Devanthaw's fourth grade classroom. I was there in 1954-55. My family moved away the following summer and I've only been back once, about 33 years ago. Would love to hear from anyone who was also in her class in 1954-55.

Default loganberry

Attended 1st and 2nd grade at McKinley. I remember Mrs Jones and Mrs Devanthaw, however I started 3rd grade at Lincoln Central.
Attended 3-8 grades at Lincoln Central, then moved to Chicago.

Still keep in touch with Jerry Rash and Stephen Birdsong.

Last visited August 2008, stayed out at Timber Hill Lodge, a really great place to stay.

Default Birdsong??

I remember there being some family friends named Birdsong, but I must admit I don't remember a whole lot about them. The pastor of the church we attended then was Rev. Falkenberry. He had six boys. Do you happen to know, or have known, any of them? We had neighbors in Corbin City by the names of Zack, Ryan, Sowders (sp), Oylers and Ruby. Have not been in touch with any of them since my family moved away in the summer of 1955.

We do have 3 families of Birdsongs here. There's a Lloyd, Mike and Stephen. I know one of their wives is Mary. I looked in the phone book for Falkenberry, and couldn't find them. Oylers, I found a Helen, John, Regina, and 2 Rons.
