Default Wichita is Wealthy

Has anyone else noticed how much serious money is in Wichita? Theres all the new shopping complexes on Rock with Talbots and Starbucks. Koch Industries is making a killing. But I am really amazed at the amount of entrepeneurs there who have some serious cash flow. There seems to be a lot of people there with lots of funds considering how small and non-urban Wichita is...

I agree, and there are several country clubs which involve serious money to join. They are always doing well too. Developers are also buildling alot of condos downtown which are very expensive. I heard from a realtor friend of mine they are selling fast.

I went "home" to Wichita for the first time in 5 years and was astounded at the growth on the NE side. I wondered where is all the money coming from to support the shopping and huge houses???

Wichita has always had lots of disposable income mainly because the cost of living there is dirt cheap compared to other places.

This is on top of the people buying a new Beemer or Mercedes every year. Where's it all come from? Its like every Very Wealthy rich person who doesn't like SoCal or NYC moved to Wichita. It is AMAZING. Thats why I find all the talk on the boards that Wichita is a ghetto/dangerous is ridiculous

You have to be from Kansas to understand- Wichita is really small town minded and population wise pretty small. It has one industry here, aircraft. Otherwise its farms near the outskirts of town.It does not have Arlington Heights or Oak Park or even the density of Beverly. But there is enough money here to compete with Highland Park with a dash of Wilmette. Can you imagine a Winnetka in the middle of Carbondale?

You've probably never been anywhere other than Wichita. You need to look around and see all that you take for granted. Wichita is nice, I'm so tired of people hating on Wichita.
