Diddiyo, that picture north of Garden City is truly awesome. I love the way the road disappears into infinity and the sky meets the curvature of the earth. Classic southwest Kansas. I'm thinking that's US Highway 83. I drove that stretch about 25 years ago going from Garden City to North Platte. A drive to remember.

Most would view that drive as horribly boring, but I find it intruiging, thats a great stretch of road right there.
Nice pics everyone!

Does anyone have any pictures of Prairie Dog Land? I've always wanted to see the world's largest prairie dog but that place was always closed every time I drove past.

That beautiful river photo
Hi,
I'm new to this state's forum and this is my first posting here.
These pictures, esp. Plains10's eastern photos, are beautiful...so historic.
Does anyone know the name of the old charming bridge in that Eastern Kansas River photo? I'm looking in Google and can't even find the river!! Is this river the one that goes East West over into KC? (If my geography's off, please snicker to yourself...!!)
Been considering relocating due to some things I don't like about Phx. and AZ. I'm not a desert gal, for one. Am looking at 2 other cities, but KC pops back in a few times, and my friend here loved it when she visited. My occupation is executive assistant, but that's not my life. I love nature, art, classical music, just many all around "old-fashioned" type things and my TRUEST skills are mostly all in the arts. I work in corporate b/c it pays the bills which afford me the capital and time to apply myself to art rather than stress (bills), which the "starving artist" life gives. Both my parents were v. skilled in the corporate world, so there's that in me, too.
I esp. have a strong respect for middle America where people seem extremely humane and cordial....just what my grandma would be like, were she still here. The idea of supporting our farms is big in me. I grew up on a Caribbean island, so, that's where love of land and nature started.
I'd be likely attending the Anglican church in OP, but haven't checked it or others like it out (where they are under the Church of Uganda, not the U.S. leadership).
Hope to see some historic KC pics, too!!
Happy to be visitin'
I.

Just saw this thread/sticky as I haven't been logged in for a while. Thought I'd throw a few photos up. All are taken near our duplex in NW Wichita.
