Places to see in Wichita
I will be visiting the area for the first time this weekend (Fri-Mon). I'm really not familiar with the area at all. Are there any interesting places to see? Unique fun places to eat? I'm not the artsy type so that is out. I'm looking for more family type things.
Thanks!

Il Vicino is a small but very good wood-oven pizza restaurant, as is Piztros (broken link).
The Kansas Sports Hall of Fame is pretty cool, too.
Oh, and don't miss The Good Egg or Zumo, Juice and Java in Bradley Fair, either. Hope this helps!

To be honest plane factories are very interesting. Especially since they have provided my family a great living.
I was asking about places to see while I'm in town for a few days while my husband is interviewing at those , as you call them, boring plane factories. If you can't contribute then please don't respond. With the attitude in your post it sounds like someone has already pulled off your balls.

Minus the park of course.
I would rather have my balls pulled off in an accident than go to wichita.

What a rude post. If you can't make a positive contribution, don't post here.

things to do
A bit rude but ture, there is nothing worth while to do in wichita.
I have friends there and have spent time trying to find things to do.
Lets see........... there is old town, boring......... there is well nothing else. The christians saw fit to keep out the casino so you will now have to go 10 miles south to have any fun. [MODCUT- Inappropriate]

The people who say there is nothing to do there are hitting the nail on the head.
There is a saying in Wichita by us who live there, Its a nice place to live but I would not want to visit."
This is because there is nothing to do.
If you do a search of things to do, you get the museum of world treasures, and this is a nice half day, the 10 acre botanical garden, not worth the trip or $ and then you get the moose antique store, So there are only two things to do that are even marginal.
Some people can watch grass grow and it is great fun for them.
But for most people Wichita is a place that if you do not have family, you put the petal to the metal and get past it ASAP.

It's people like you who spread negativity that make the world less enjoyable. Just my 2 cents.
Enjoy your stay, cjones15!

I'm really glad I am here in Wichita right now and can check out the city for myself. With all the negative post I don't see why anyone would want to come here. I don't know if ya'll live here and are not open to outsiders or what the deal is but I can say it isn't a warm feeling.
I live in a large city and didn't expect a town that is smaller to have as large of a selection of things to do BUT every place no matter of it's size has great places to eat/see. I'm originally from a very small town (less then 5,000 people) but there are still great places to check out and the locals are excited to share them with everyone.
Big thanks to athfo for the helpful info!! I think this town needs more people like this poster.
