Winters in Lawrence are highly variable.
High temperatures in the winter can range anywhere from the 50s to single digits for highs.
Winds can be occasionally strong during the winter.
Expect around 20 inches of snow every year.
The average temperature during the winter in Lawrence is much higher compared with Des Moines or Chicago.

Would you say that it's warmer than Wisconsin and Minnesota?

Lawrence has much warmer winters compared with Wisconsin and Minnesota. Arctic air does not last for long periods of time in Lawrence and temperatures are commonly above freezing for highs during the winter.
Summer temperatures in Lawrence are in the 80s and 90s with high humidity.

this winter in Lawrence has been cooooooold. Most days in the last couple months the highs have been in the 20's or lower and it has snowed a handful of times. There were 2 days that I can remember that the temperature got up to 65 but the next day it snowed both times and temperatures dropped back into the 20's. I wouldn't pay too much attention to "averages" because things have been getting colder for the last few years. I would imagine that wisconsin and minnesota are still colder, but in the winter here it doesn't get over 40 very often

Well, I enjoy colder temperatures because I can't stand 80s and 90s with high humidity I do understand that many people dislike cold weather, but I am not one of them.
Actually this winter is fairly typical of what you would expect for E Kansas. Several years ago we had a string of several consecutive winters that had much above "average" temperatures.

I agree with Plains 10. Winters in Lawrence are variable. This winter for example actually feels like winter to me. A lot of times it doesn't feel like winter at all in Lawrence. The big massive snow storms we keep getting threatened with seem to pass us over every time. For the most part, winters fluctuate a lot in Lawrence. It willbe 40+ degrees on day and the next day the high will be 20. Just a couple of weeks ago the weather was almost 50 and then the temperature plummeted 20+ degrees in less than two hours...no exagerration! The summer arre HOT and stay HOT all summer long, but the winters are all over the place.

weather by a carzy person
The winters in Lawrence act like a manic person. One day it's up and the next day it is down. There is no consistancy but they are not unbearable
