While going through some of my Father in Law's things, I found an Army dogtag. I presume the tag dates from World War 2.

The name on the tag is William G. Lemman.

His next of kin was Mr. Charles Lemman of 1204 N Joplin in Pittsburg.

I would like to return William's dogtag to his family if they are still around. Can you help me find them? If you know of them, please feel free to share my contact info with them.

It's possible that members of the same family live in Colby and/or Manhattan.

Thanks, Mark Whitehead, Olalla, WA

I would try the Genealogy Society or the VFW in Pittsburg or Crawford County.

A notice in the Pittsburg Sun - Home - Morning Sun - Pittsburg, KS - might be productive. Additionally, the newspaper might consider this a nice human interest story and publish the information. Couldn't hurt to drop a line to the editor. The contact page is at

Contact - Pittsburg, KS - Morning Sun

Another resource might be the Pittsburg High School Alumni group. There were two other high schools in town, St. Mary's Colgan (Catholic) and one (no longer extant) associated with the college, now university.

Chances are somebody knows somebody who knows somebody....

Good luck.
