Housewives of Orange County comes to mind.......................

(slaps self in the face for voicing that)

I enjoyed the posts. I have no worries about crime, I just stay out of situations where I'm forced to shoot.
Ok, here goes a priority list:

  1. Move self, girlfriend, son & family away from Yuma to Wichita, Manhattan or Salina areas;
  2. Get a job as a Director of Nursing or Regional Nurse Consultant in one of these areas;
  3. Be closer to family in Nebraska;
  4. Create a welding/fabrication/machining shop for my son & I. (I am a machinist also)
  5. Retire after winning the Powerball. (opps gotta buy a ticket, now don't I???)
  6. Enjoy doing what I do best, which is life.
Been too close to death too many times. Not worried about crime (combat veteran here also), not willing to sacrifice my priorities due some pecker-head with an attitude. Kansas has a Castle Doctrine Law on the books.

Anyway, our main reason to return to the Midwest is peace of mind. We grew up there, Arizona was nice for a while, now it's time to get closer to the final resting place.

Thanks everyone that responded, I absorb what I need & ignore what I don't. No worries on my end.
Mark

They noted they were a combat veteran so assuming that is most of the reason although they may have once dated one of the Kardashians.

No to the Kardashians............... give me another heart attack just thinking about it.

Nope, motorcycle accident 1973, rear seat of a Mustang rollover 1975, jungle combat 1979, Hospice nurse 1991, Chemotherapy nurse 1992-1995, heart attack 2009, gun pulled on me 2012 - no shots fired.

Sheesh, still quaking in my boots about the Kardashian date. EWWWWWWW

I think with your sense of humor you will do great anywhere. Hope the move works for you and looks like we're getting a great new resident.

Best wishes.

Well, thinking of additional education & becoming a Nursing Home Administrator. Seems the best advice I get is get hired at a place that offers the AIT program & apply. Seems logical.

So, the search begins to find a facility that offers an Administrator-In-Training program. I have time, so this may not occur until I return to KS in July.

Have you considered teaching? Most of the vo-tech programs offer practical nursing and/or an associate in nursing degree and it seems quite often that they are looking for someone to teach in certain areas. Also, the short term classes for nursing assistants pop up everywhere. May not be of interest to you, but could be a "fill in" while you got established in the area, make some contacts? I am only guessing.

As far as "Administrator-In-Training", Wichita would probably be the best bet for that. Salina, I don't believe has grown since I lived there in the early 80s. If you haven't been to Manhattan, I hear it is almost unrecognizable with all the growth they experienced.
