Recheck your Math & show your work for partial credit! KS has fewest # of threads as well, although US Territories have fewer.

i.e.: Nebraska has 54,200 POSTS, > Kansas' 24,812 POSTS
And you can be quite certain that the high post states like California, Florida, and New York are in many more rear view mirrors than Kansas is. In many of those cases, probably most of them, half or more of those posts are rants/pleas for help in escaping.

The correlation is between # of posts = interest in Kansas vs 49 other states. Kansas appears to be 50th w/out KC, KS.

I suppose we Kansans could admit that it's likely more people would be interested in ND & IA than Kansas.
Again, that doesn’t make sense. You’re removing Kansas largest metro and then comparing the rest of the state. How does that make sense. Almost all of Kansas’s growth is in JOCO, does it make sense not to include that? Of course not, so why make the comparison. There’s no way to fairly compare.

1.6 million Kansans live in the KC metro (not including Lawrence). Our entire state population is only 2.9 million. That’s 55% of our state population. Iowa has a population of 3.1 million compared to our remainder of 1.3 million. N Dakota does have a high post relative to population.

The KC forum has 66,000 posts in it, that’s a decent amount for a city of its size, and the KCKS metro has seen a ton of growth in the last decade.

Anyway, it’s a silly comparison and can’t be made fairly by removing KCKS and including other states main metros. So, Kansas’s low numbers are misleading, but I’m not arguing that Kansas is an attractive state as I pointed out before in more detail. I’m just saying your metrics are flawed and can’t be used to make an comparison.

Default Interested in Kansas City, but only IF routed thru Missouri

many forums have sub-forums about specific cities. Be sure not to post your city-specific threads in general state forums if a sub-forum about that city exists.

Announcement: Kansas City forum isn't really any "Announcement" that C-D has lumped KC, KS with KC, MO. It just lands you in the KC MO forum. The KC MO thread sticky enlightens you with a KC Metro Map, showing Leavenworth to be included. SO, SHOULDN'T YOU ASK A Q ABOUT Leavenworth in the KCMO forum? Appears as tho only ~ 45% reach that conclusion:

Search for Leavenworth in thread titles within KCMO forum: http://www.city-data.com/forum/searc...rchid=30565455 RESULTS = 10 THREADS

Search for Leavenworth in thread titles within KS forum:http://www.city-data.com/forum/searc...rchid=30565477 RESULTS = 12 THREADS

I'm well aware that not ALL threads in any forum are about moving INTO any state. However, I would think the # of total threads for a state reflects INTEREST in that state. It's unfortunate that C-D has detoured all KC, KS posts to KC, Misery. As a Kansas native for 64 years. it's not surprising that KS has the least "INTEREST."

Which is about as meaningful in assessing the quality of life in a state as is assessing the quality of a movie based upon its box office. Some of the worst movies ever made have been huge audience draws.

It is interesting to note that, if you remove Omaha from the Nebraska post total here, you are left with 17,836 for the rest of the state - nearly 29% fewer than the Kansas post total, which does not include its largest metro. If you remove Des Moines from Iowa, you have 26,070 - only marginally more than Kansas.

On the other hand, if you were to remove all of the posts from the Kansas forum that irrationally bash the state for reasons gathered from galaxies far, far, away, you would likely be left with about a third of its current 24,831. Anyone attempting to make a point about low post total in Kansas would be better off going at it from that angle, except that they would have to subtract most of their own posts.

Edit: I am, by no means, singling you out here. There is a long history in the Kansas forum of extra-terrestrial visits.

This is the second time you've responded to the same post.

Please consider my post #66 after the first time you responded and before the above post.

Thanks in advance.

So, a discussion about budgets has now devolved into bashing KS over their post count total in an internet forum?

Wow. Just....wow.

Right. Getting back on topic.

Kansas tax collections $8.5M above new, higher estimates in November

Tax collections and tax collection estimates continue to increase. Sales tax and corporate taxes have both been increasing as well which have not been effected by the recent tax changes. All good news.

Good news indeed, and Kobach, if elected governor next year, would very unwise to implement changes to the present state tax structure.

Also of note is the following NE thread: ~ NEW POST in the Nebraska City-Data Forums' sub-forum now at 30 replies!

Well, someone needed to, in my estimation. Have been back here @ City-Data forums for a week now and no new posts for Nebraska... for no less than 3 weeks since the last fresh one was posted. In this time since my return, for Kansas there are 3 new posts, 4 for South Dakota, 6 for Iowa, 8 for Wyoming, 6 for Missouri, and 18 for Colorado for crying out loud. They've got us surrounded. Circle Up!

Has something happened here in the background that anyone would care to make me aware of? Did people finally get that the big "N' on the University of Nebraska stands for 'Nowledge"? Are folks off boycotting one of our fine businesses like Runza or Cabellas? (if so then the news has escaped me so far) Weed legalized now? (that ain't gonna happen until teotwawki) Please, enlighten me!

Have had difficulties resurrecting my old account, the powers that be at CD being slower than steam off of cold biscuits in getting back with me over my pleas for assistance in getting "SandHills" back up and running. No word whatsoever back from them yet after my extensive love letter explaining my dilemma. May have to just let my 300+ posts with their 600+ reps go bye-bye. Ah well, It's All Good.

Anyhoo, am missing a few good folks who used to post here. Post away, this be your thread about whatever Nebraska you're wishing to kick around. Hey now... watch them pointy boots, Mr. Rancher, I'll show myself out, thank you very much.

& as for tax revenues & estimates:

Since the fiscal year began July 1, the state has collected just under $2.5 billion in various taxes, which is about $259 million more than it collected over the same period last year.

The majority of that increase is from individual income taxes, which are up nearly $177 million. But retail sales taxes, a revenue stream that lawmakers didn't alter this year, are up $41.6 million, or 4.4 percent over the same period last year.

I would suggest the legislature move to TAX all retirement income, incl. military & federal. I promise not to thereafter pay any attention to C-D KS' thread count & don my NARFE firesuit.

I don’t think Kansas should tax retirement income and I don’t think that will get support from Republicans or Democrats here, but I did/do support ending the LLC tax exemption. The current tax rates are good how they are. We don’t need tax changes. As a business owner I was originally pretty happy to hear about the LLC exemption, but it was easy to see the immediate fallout from it. I never voted for Brownback, but I never really attacked his tax policies either as I was directly benefiting from them. But hindsight is 20/20 and I can see the damage done by those policies.

I’ve made my position clear on being against Kobach due to, what I see as rolling back to Brownbacks tax agenda. I think we’ve gotten pretty lucky in fixing our budget crisis and I don’t want a repeat of that. I have nothing against Kobach personally, I just don’t want him as governor.
