Kansas film about notorious Bender family serial killers to make its debut Tuesday | The Topeka Capital-Journal

The Bender family | Photos | Murderpedia, the encyclopedia of murderers

I grew up with tales of the Bender family, but I'm beginning to think they may have been dramatized for my Dad's storytelling.

Katie Bender in Tulsa => Dad told a tale of the Montgomery Co.Sheriff being down in Tulsa & waking past a used furniture store. He did a double take, that woman looked like Katie. He spoke with her & was convinced. He came back next day & she had gone.

My Grandmother's inlaws, the Johnsons of Neodesha, had a deceased member who rode on the Bender posse, which allegedly caught up, hanged & buried them. He would never talk about it.

I spoke with a Riley Co. drover musician, Zerf, regarding my father's tales & Zerf met with him & played Beautiful Katie (Bloody Bender).

I recall some TV western where the Bender story was the episode.
