Can you tell me about Plains, KS?
Doing a little homework on the area. It seems like the real shopping and such is in Liberal. How is it to live in Plains? I am not looking for city excitment, so that isn't an issue.

What would take you to Plains, KS?
You are right that the nearest town is Liberal, and the closest larger town is Amarillo, TX.
This part of KS has fairly friendly people, but the culture is more similar to TX in my honest opinion.
SW Kansas has a very large Hispanic population as well.
Liberal is not one of my favorite towns in KS.
However, I guess it would have all of your basic services that you need.
In my honest opinion, one of the nicest towns in western Kansas is Hays. If you are interested in relocating to the western portion of KS I would definitely recommend that town, and some of the smaller surrounding towns near there.

It would be employment possibly.
I am originally from TX...so should I take that as a compliment?
Just curious about what it is like there. Thank you!

I have only driven through the town, but it seemed like an average town on the Great Plains to me Maybe some other posters will have more detailed knowledge about the town and surrounding area.

Liberal has a big problem with illegal immigration as well as towns in the surrounding area like Garden City and Dodge City. The big employers in the region are meatpacking plants and things related to commercial agriculture.

Plains is in the Guiness book of records as having the widest main street. We have friends that live there and its a quiet town. But thats OK with me.
