I was just about to ask the same question.
I don't mean to sound racist, but I recently read a stat that 80% of Dodge City elementary schools are hispanic. I moved away from the area two yrs ago and I often felt intimidated (there) because I don't speak Spanish. Here is a link from the Dodge City Globe of a story about a gang related shooting. It is a couple of years old but one can go to the Globe website and enter "gangs" into the search, just as I did, and find out how prevailent the gang activity is in Dodge City.
Now they want to build a casino in Dodge? That, in my opinion, will only add to the problems.

Thank you nice Becky.
I will take a look at Cimarron, do you know how far it is from Dodge City??
Torn2part
Does the town have police? do they have control of the town? Do the gangs run the town.
I am in healthcare and seeking a position in Dodge City, would it be safe? there or I should consider an other city??
Thanks to all.

To be honest - They do nothing about the gangs. There has been gang activity for several years. They keep it hush hush...The number of gangs in Dodge City was Reported on the Wichita News...
Cimarron is about 20 minutes from DC - It's a small town, with a grocery store, gas station.....I have a sister in law that lives there. There's no Hospital there....
You best bet would be to to visit the towns and get a feel for them. Honestly, there's not much to do in either town.....
Dodge has a nice Medical Center - I have to say, most of the Dr's are very friendly and nice....
----
Becky - I would be very shocked if the Casino was to pass. It's not like many would even gamble. It would fail in Dodge City....
And - Yes, about the percentage you posted is correct. I was told by a teacher - which schools not to enroll my kids in. This coming from a teacher.
I moved out of Dodge exactly 1 year ago and I still have Inlaws there. So, I do hear a lot of what's going on there still.

Sir,
The distance is about 18 miles (Cimarron to Dodge City). Your ability to speak Spanish is a huge plus. Since you have been living in the USA for over 30 yrs. I think you will have no problem other than that Dodge is a rural, isolated town and that could take some getting used to.
Where are you right now?
Dodge City does have a police department.

Thank you nice Becky.
I am presently in Florida, near Orlando to be specific, crime here is terrible, you are talking about gangs, here there are not so many but there is shootings every single day or night.
Rural places do not bother me, I do my work and I go home, on weekends, I like to go visit places that I am not familiar with, I also enjoy gardening ect.
The medical complex in Dodge City sounds very nice and all the people I have been talking with they seen to be real nice, are they trying to get me there???
Thanks again
