Funny that you say that cuz the WalMart in Dodge is about the only thing that I do miss. I used to give the little greeter a hug (little crippled guy, can't remember his name now). Do the prarie dogs still hang around the parking lot?

There is a lot of new construction around the hospital. Finding decent housing is not difficult. I'm sure that if you take the posistion your employers will be all too happy to assist you. Bilingual would be a huge asset to you!

If you have the opportunity to tour I highly recommend Meade. It is about 50 miles south and west of Dodge. The population would probably be around 1700 or so. It has a brand new beautiful hospital!

If you are looking for extremely rural I would be happy to show you are tiny little hospital in my tiny little town of less than a thousand people! We boast of a hospital, LTCU and clinic. We are always needing RN's, CNA's and any doctor willing to come here. Housing is EXTREMELY affordable.

Chele123
Thanks for the offer, I am a CDM (certified dietary manager) and a tiny hospital or clinic would have some problems affording me.
How far is your town anyway, if not too far from Dodge, I would love to take a look, I am looking to rent first just in case.
I will have my flight details this week for my May 2, visit, I will post it and if anyone is willing to show me around I would appreciate it very much.
Thanks to all for your helpful information.

I am about 50 miles south and east of Dodge City. We already have a CDM, but I would still recommend checking with Meade District Hospital! We don't really have many rentals available in this town so I don't know that there is anything I could show you! I could take you for a tour of the general area I suppose? How long will you be in the area for your interview?
Here is a link to Ashland, so you can take a peek:

I have no idea what your housing requirements or price range is, but I think if you stay on the north end of town you'll be OK. I know there are apartments within walking distance of the hospital.

Thank you very much chele123.
50 miles is a bit too far for me to travel, I will be there for 3 days but only planing to interview with the Western Plains Medical Complex, they are the only ones willing to pay me a little more than what I make now.
Crime does not worry me a lot, I lived in South Africa for 10 years and there were killings in the streets every day, if you look for problems, I guess you find then.
I will look at the north part of town as you mentioned.
Thanks for your offer and thans to everyone for their help. GREAT PEOPLE.

Well...
I was very pleasantly surprised, after all the comments about the smell, the wind and the crime, I kind did not want to go to Dodge City,
.
I am glad I did, I found a very clean city, very friendly people, aboundant shopping, lots of sports activities, a lot of new development,a nre by-pass about to be build and much more.
The days I was there yes, it was a bit windy, but I could live with that, I visited the police sattion and they showed me the crime reports, no more than any other city of the same sizes.
I got the job and I will be moving there by end of June.
Thanks to all for all the advise and good wishes.
