If you have any questions about a particular town I would be glad to help. I am familiar with many towns in Kansas.

HI!
I am a spanish teacher, from Spain. I got a job opportunity to teach in Beloit, School District 273. Could you tell me something about living in Beloit? Leisure activities, social life? and what about the school? I read school system is very good in this area. I would be moving on my own, well, with my dog, I am 26 and single.
Thanks for your help!

Beloit is a pretty little agricultural oriented town near a beautiful lake. The cultural make-up of the area is czech/german/english. Unless some illegal Mexicans have managed to sneak in for farm jobs, there is no Hispanic base there at all.
Beloit is a thriving community with all the basic necessities. Extended shopping is available at Salina, which is about 50 miles south.
The spanish language that is usually taught in the school systems is the Castillian Spanish, or formal and proper Spanish. It is not the dialect that is spoken by the Mexicans for the most part, unless they come from families of social status around Mexico City. Just so that you know, the Spanish that is needed is conversational Spanish so that the students can converse with the immigrants. If you approach the people on the street and speak to them in Castillian Spanish, they look at you as though you are speaking a foreign language.....just so you know. I currently am living in New Mexico, hoping to get back into Kansas as soon as possible.
