Default Living on Rainbow blvd - your opinion

Hi all,
my wife is going to move to Kansas city soon and we were thinking about the apartments located on Rainbow blvd/West 36th (66103). Does someone know this area in general? Is it secure? I am asking because for some time period she will have to use bus only, not the car, and she often works late.

I will appreciate any useful advices.

I used to date a nurse that lived very close to Rainbow Blvd and the area you mention. I think i wouldn't want my wife etc to be out in that area alone at night let alone late at night. I would be worried about my own saftey at night while walking. This comes from a guy that grew up and lives in the suburbs. I think a little leg work while in town can get you better results to the east and a little farther south. Check with someone she will be employed with if possible for their spin on things. She might be able to ride with another employee.

I used to live in the Plaza area. I agree with Versatile. Depending on where your wife might be working, I would perhaps look at the area of Shawnee in Jo County not too far south of KU Med Center. There might be some kind of connector bus. The Plaza area would be better too but still very urban.

I would not be comfortable with my wife living alone in the 36th and Rainbow area. It is not a safe area. She would be much safer if she lived a ways south or southwest of the KU Med area. If you want to stay on the Kansas side, any place in the Northeastern Johnson County area would be better. She should be able to find something affordable in the communities of Mission, Roeland Park, Merriam or Shawnee.

There also would be safer neighborhoods from the Plaza area south on the Missouri side... the Brookside neighborhood is nice. Plus, the bus service is better on the Missouri side, although she should be able to get the bus on the Kansas side also... she'd just have fewer bus options overall.

Default lord

i have lived in KCK near Frit'z all my life i mean i am a 5th generation in KCK since 1860 lord it gets a bad reputation. i know several people living in that area including a friend of mine that is an eagle scout and a KCK police officer. i am 24 I drive thru that area to westport every weekend. That is the neighborhood near KU hostpital. They even have KU police that drive all over that neighborhood. No neighborhood is 100% safe your telling her move farther away you realize if she moves farther away that means most likely more buses to transfer on more distance to travel alone at night. I mean if that area is close to her job think about that. Plus let me say roleland park and johnson county have the most pathic bus system in town lord the johnson county transit is a joke the service you get during the day yet alone i believe they have no coverage at night. She should be closer to her work no matter what yes ride the bus it's safe i have done it many times but cut down the distance she has to ride the bus for her own good. cause you don't want her having to wait 20 or 30 minutes late at night somewhere to catch a transfer bus. and the farther away the more buses she may need to take back and forth to work. anyways that is what i have to say about it cause i mean to me not all people seem to think of the most obvious things before they speak and to me that means the farther you go anywhere the more risk you take. i hope that means something to you.

I wouldn't want any friend/relative/male/or female standing at any bus stop of that area at late night. I agree with your statement about the times and bus transfers. I haven't spoken with him in yrs ; but i do know the Wyandotte county sheriff and his brother whom is a deputy as well. This is from when their father ran the boxing program at Bell Recreation Ctr.
All a criminal has to do on Rainbow Blvd is head north on the Blvd and shortly(within minutes if they hit the lights right) he will be out of the area. I am not trying to knock the area you grew up in.
Like the detective said"Just the facts maam".
