Here this lady and her husband are moving here all the way from California and she posts asking a specific neighborhood. And then somebody has to jump in and start talking negatively about how there's nothing to do here. That isn't even what she asked about. ![]() I'm not disagreeing with anyone's opinion. I think their opinion is quite valid. I just have no flipping clue why they would choose to live here if they dislike it so intensely. Complaining because you can't find anything to do here at 3am is nearly the same as moving to beach front property and complaining because you don't like all the water. Well I guess they like it well enough to stay huh? Otherwise they would have done the logical thing and moved, no? So you say I should "keep my high and mighty attitude" to myself until I've lived here long enough to consider myself a Wichita veteran? I actually did live here once before about 7 years ago. And I've been here for about 3 months now this time around. From living here before I can honestly say that I noticed quite a lot of improvement about this place overall. That's MY opinion and it's just as valid as the next. The key to living in middle America is not to pretend that it's paradise. This lady from Cali could be miserable here. She's probably accustomed to the great weather 365 days a year, being near an ocean, unique restaurants (not that there aren't nice places to eat here), etc etc. But Ya know what? I bet she picked up a map and found where Kansas was before she came. I bet she won't be shocked that the beach is no longer a 30 minute trip. She doesn't need anyone to pipe up and tell her that she's not going be be able to shop on Rodeo Dr. And I'm sure if she did sufficient research she'd find that most smaller towns pretty much close up shop at a much earlier hour then larger cities. If you're looking for big city culture why the hell would you have any illusions what-so-ever about finding it in a town this small and in this part of the country? ![]() ![]() ![]() I don't know I must be confused. |

I also find the criticism of Wichita to be a bit silly. Kansas is not California, Florida or Colorado; if you want to live there, feel free to move. I know people who moved from California and New York to Wichita.
Advantages of Wichita: (i) Low cost of housing; (ii) Lots of places to eat Which City Really Does Have The Most Restaurants Per Capita?; (iii) Wichita Symphony Orchestra; (iv) Sedgwick County Zoo; (v) Old Town (e.g. bars, restaurants, Old Town Warren theater); (vi) Wichita River Festival; (vii) Great Planes Nature Center, Botanica, Museums on the River, etc.; (viii) jobs City of Wichita - Moving Here? One big disadvantage of Wichita is a lack of bike lanes. While there are bike paths, they often don't go where one wishes to go. With the increasing price of gas, not feeling comfortable biking is sad.

We live in Town Park near McConnell AFB at Webb and Pawnee. It's a very quiet, nice area. Plus you're in the Derby school district. Derby schools are excellent. Wichita is a great place to raise kids but there's absolutely nothing to do here so if you like a quiet boring lifestyle this is the place. There's nothing to do here except eat out and shop. I'm from Toronto Canada and when I first moved here I hated it and wanted to leave. The place kind of grows on you. The people are so nice here so it make it easier. If you like doing things outdoors forget it. It's so hot here in the summer it's unbearable. The spiders, roaches and ants will really get to you after a while. It's always a war with my me and the bugs...lol...

as far as wichita being boring who cares? If you move there you probably knew that before hand, i did.Movies mall super walmart Movies mall super walmart. The best thing is that your renting get a feel for things if you dont like it you can easily move and not be stuck with a home for sale. good luck i lived in wichita 3 years no bad things ever happen aside from getting raped for property taxes i owned a new home, but your gonna rent good choice you like it. |

It's in freaking KANSAS for starters. There is nothing to do there other than tend the pigs, cook meth, and work the wheat and corn fields.
