Post Would You Move Out of Kansas?

The data from the past several years shows a continuation of in-migration and out-migration patterns in Kansas. The rural areas are largely declining and the urbanized metro areas of Kansas are gaining population.
Have you moved out of Kansas or have you moved from a rural area to a metro area? Have you moved from a rural area in KS to a bigger metro in KS or a different state?

I will start first. I moved from the Kansas City metro (Johnson County) where I lived for over 20 years to central New Hampshire. I felt like I needed a fresh start in my career field and a change of scenery. So far I have not been dissapointed.

For all the 'good' about Wichita, I'd fight my way to the front of the line IF the right opportunity presented itself back in the south and/or close to family. would never have been here except job...you go where you gotta go.

I would much rather not if it could be avoided. I have lived in Oklahoma and Fort Worth, TX but not because I wanted to get out of Kansas. I am SOOOO glad to be back and would not trade it for anyplace else.

I'd move out of Kansas after my kids are grown, only to have the experience. I'm sure I'd always find my way home to Kansas, when I'm ready to retire.

I did move out of Kansas. I needed better for my children. Better schools and more things for them to do...Now mind you - I lived in SW KS....Nothing but wide open nothings.....

I moved from NC to Kansas (Johnson Co) and then - b/c of a job move- came back to NC over a decade later. I did not want to leave KS - love it there! I would move back to Johnson Co. if I had the opportunity. Great area. I have a large extended family here in NC but even so . . . I would definitely move back to Kansas. Really miss the whole KCMO metro area, even tho I am an NC native and have been back in Charlotte for nearly six years. I still get homesick for JoCo and KCMO and return to visit at least once a year.

I live in SW Kansas and have no plans to ever leave. I have lived all over the world, including Hawaii, California, and many other states. There is nothing to compare to the quality of life here.

The only thing that would draw me away from where I am currently is if by some chance I was offered a salary comparable to what I'm making now in my home town in Missouri. ...but there isn't a whole lot of demand for an aeronautical engineer in rural South East Missouri. Whereas I could likely stay here as long as I wanted. Doing my type of work and living in the air capital has it's benefits.
