How far do you want to be from Ft. Riley; what kind of commute would be acceptable to you?

1) A good rural area close to Junction City and Manhattan would be Milford, which is on top of a nice reservoir. I tend to like Manhattan over Junction City, but others might feel differently.
2) Cost of living is moderate.
3) Manhattan is home to Kansas State University, and has a true College town atmosphere, while Junction City is very much a military oriented town. The have differing flavors.
4) This is a scenic part of Kansas, and the Flint Hills offer some good scenery, great hiking, and has one of the last remaining stands of tallgrass prairie remaning in North America. Be sure to check out the Konza Prairie Preserve just south of Manhattan if you visit the area.

Hey speed! sorry I don't know much about that area but welcome....

just a suggestion! alter your thread title to better reflect the info or area you need help with so people know you are seeking info.

Good luck! and I have been to Milford and it's great!

St. George and Wamego are also within your commute requirement. Check out this housing website: Manhattan Association of REALTORS (http://www.manhattanrealtors.net/default.asp?content=search&menu_id=5984 - broken link). Best wishes!
