A lot has changed in KS since the book has been written. I don't care too much for divisive politics. Some issues brought up in the book were amusing, and other issues tended to be over generalized.

Well, I do hear a lot about how NYC taxes/regulations tends to hold back most areas of upstate New York. I am sure you will find that the COL is quite affordable in Kansas and the property taxes lower. Fort Scott is in a nice centralized location between Kansas City and Joplin, MO.
