Passing through Kansas, I-70 in March
I haven't been to Kansas since '92, and am about to get on the road in March (hoping for reasonable weather) and wonder if folks have any suggestions for stopping, seeing, enjoying and a good, reasonably priced, but comfortable hotel, motel or bed and breakfast.
My last experience in Kansas was terrific, btw!
Many thanks for any recommendations.

I am so shocked that not one person answered me--doesn't sound like the Kansas I knew.
Anyway, I decided to drop down south and take I-40, but thanks anyway for all the suggestions.

Many great Places with a lot of History...... I would suggest Goodland for the States first Hellicopter, Oakley for the States largest Barn and Museum, Hays for all of the Wild Bill Kic**** and Fort Hays history and Lore, Russel for information on Senators Dole and Spector, Lucas for the "Garden of Eden, Ellsowirth for old Cowtown flavor and History, Minneapolis for the phenominal George Washington Carver Museum, .. Salina for the original home of H.d. Lee, the originator and founder of Lee Jeans, ........ the Worlds largest Phillips Light bulb plant, ....... The worlds largest Pizza Plant ( tony's), The assembly plant for Thor \ Eldorado Campers , (also a nice museum, the Smoky Hill Museum) ...... Abilene for Old Abilene town and the unforgettable Dwight D Eisenhower Museum!!!!!!!!, Abilene also has the national museum for telephony, and the National Greyhound museum - ( not to mention a great Russel Stovers Candy Faactory with great chocolate candy samples!), .... And of course there is great historical information around Lawrence with the "bleeding Kansas" raids a hundred and fifty years ago......
Also, you will find many sights off I 70 where the worlds first Bull Dozer was built- Morganville, the worlds largest ball of twine - Cawker City, the 8th wonder of the world, Rock City natural park - Minneapolis Kansas, as well as several cities where Planes and aviation really got the national start. Companies like Cessna, McConnal, Douglas, and others originated in Central and south east kansas.

I was in KS in 92. I have fond memories of KSU and surrounding areas. Too bad I was not on this forum when you asked the question. But since you are taking I-40 now, I would suggest taking in the newest and one of the best casinos in OK, which is right on I-40 around Shawnee. It has a great buffet, 4.99 with the free players card. I highly recommend it. And who knows maybe by then they will have their hotel built too. I also recommend the all you can eat catfish on I-40 at the Seminole exit #200. There are a few out of the way places to eat. But I can't name them all. March can't be any windier than it is now. Have a good, safe trip.

I have lived in Hays for 40 years and the whole town DOES NOT get drunk during October Feast! A majority of university students do though.

Any B&B in Lindsborg (off I-135), or Lawrence (off I-70) - My two favorite Kansas historical towns!
