Default Good Apartments in Wichita?

I am going to be relocating to Wichita, KS very soon, and want to find a cheap apartment. I hope to buy a home soon, so would like an apartment that allows short-term leases.

Particularly, I am looking for a clean, safe, etc. apartment complex. If anyone has any suggestions of excellent apartment complexes in Wichita in a good neighborhood, I'd appreciate it.

My office will be next to Mid-Continental airport, so apartments on the west side of town would be good, but I open to anywhere in the Wichita area. Largely, I just want it to be a safe, nice part of town.

...I can't really help you on the west side but I can certainly tell you where not to live on the East Side.

Horizon's East

Cheap...but definitely not good.

Appartments around Wichita are generally priced lower than a lot of other places but you get what you pay for.

My biggest suggestion would be Ponderosa Apartments, just west of Mainsgate & Woodlawn (north of 21st & Woodlawn). I lived there for 6 months, and I was really impressed by the staff. They also have free cable tv, water & trash pick-up.

However, since you will be working near Mid-Continent Airport, here are some other suggestions. Take a look at Marina Point at 21st & Amidon, Newport Apartments at Central & Ridge, Crown Chase Apartments at Central & Ridge, Cimarron Apartments at Central & Ridge, and so on. Westlink Village is probably the best option as most reviews speak well of the complex. I don't have personal experience with these, unfortunately, so I don't know how expensive these are. There are many others apartments on the west side, so just keep looking around.
