Is Home Depot good for Pittsburg?
Is Home Depot good for Pittsburg? What is the effect of Home Depot in Pittsburg? Obviously lots of jobs, business, property tax for the city, etc...
Are there any bad things that can happen when a Home Depot comes to a small town like Pittsburg?

being in sales and pittsburg being one of my new territories.. it depends how you evaluate it.. i think it has a negative impact on the small independent busineses much as a walmart woulld.. that is certianly reinforced by observing down town pittsburg... i saw alot of empty storefronts.. a positive impact would be // the larger corporate stores might draw people into pitttsburg form neighboring communities.. howwever driving from pittsburg last week to miami ok.. i noticed every town had a wlamart,,, like baxter springs... miami.. pittsburg.. parsons.. but there is a great loss of independent businesses and local charachter

Rural or small town Soviet Union had untra large, character-starved places where people bought/traded/borrowed farm or construction equipment which serviced several small towns and thousands of people. They were called 'communes' or 'community farm depots'. Sounds familiar, doesn't it?

they absoutly ruin "installed sales". if they buy 10,000. of something, put em on the shelf, then everyone gets a good price. BUT special orders should be shopped! they arn't cheaper than anyone but have created the illusion that they are so no one shops them which is stupid. i carry a couple of the same lines as them (non stock items) and I'll beat em 10-15%. ANY TOWN WOULD BE BETTER SERVED WITH A LOCAL LUMBER YARD/HWD STORE>
