I know that candidates for Attorney General don't end up front and center but I have been waiting for the chance to vote against Attorney General Derek Schmidt for some time now. I actually went to hear him once in a small setting. I lived in a different county than I do now and there were some issues there that I brought to his attention as did the community and he failed miserably. One had to do with a County Treasurer that was not doing her job which had resulted not only in expensive audits to try to figure it out, the mess, to taxes not collected making taxes go up for everyone else and delaying tax auctions because her own taxes were 3 years delinquent and this moved to the AG who stalled around and decided to just let things ride the way they were. At the meeting where I met him, I asked about laws and why they were not enforced and his answer was wishy-washy. I also contacted his office several times about local illegal drug sales, drug houses that I learned had been running for years while KBI watched and having contacted KBI, I wanted an explanation and those calls were never answered so I am thinking that surely another candidate could not be worse. I do think it is sad that anymore it does come down to the "lesser of the evils" when it is election time. Government is SO corrupt now but I do see that people are starting to get out to vote in increasing numbers and actually have a clue of what is happening beyond the reality shows.
