Default Also looking to move to western Kansas

I am looking to move my family to a small town. I'm so tired of the crime in my little corner of the world. (The selling point for me is when my 13 yo daughter came home from school and told me they were selling drugs in the bathroom at school) Nice. Would like to be able the rent (for now) a small farm house with a couple of acres. Just enough to have a couple of animals and a garden. I have tried looking in local papers online for something, but havent succeeded so far. If anyone knows of any places for rent and what the town and people are like please let me know.
The greater Chicago area is becoming a bit too much for me and my family. Would like to finish raising my children in a small town with small town values. Friendliness and values are something the people of this City are lacking a great deal of.

I wouldn't necessarily recommend a small town in western KS because I feel that it would probably be too much of a drastic change compared to a more urban area. If you are looking for a "smaller" community in KS you have to go with a micropolitan town. Some that I would suggest might include: Salina, Hays, Hutchinson, Great Bend, and Manhattan. If you want a more urban area with greater job opportunities I would sugest the Topeka to Kansas City metro corridor and Wichita. COL is lower, but salaries might also be lower compared to Chicago. Housing would also probably be cheaper.

Default Lived in small town before

I grew up in a small town. About 1500 people. I lived with my grandma on her farm. It was great.

What is your career field? If it can be easily applicable to a very small town you will be in good shape. If you are targeting northwest Kansas for relocation I would recommend Hays. It is a solid town economically with friendly people and a University. It has under 20,000 people and is surrounded by a huge rural area.
