What do you dislike about Kansas?
What do you dislike about Kansas the most? I really can't stand the small town residents. My family moved in from the big city and we were new to a small town, NOT GOING TO MENTION THE NAME!!!, right in the middle of NOWHERE!! I guess they just didn't like the fact that we came from one of the wealthiest counties in the nation. They made us feel welcome like any small town would and then as soon as we settled in the whole town started talking about us and it all started with our neighbors across the street and all they would do was stare at us and follow us around town to see what we were doing. Then they told everybody in the town a bunch of lies and they believed it. Gossip is the most annoying crap to put up with and we just got the H*ll out of Kansas!! Are all Kansas small towns like that???

That's not just a Kansas thing. When we moved to a small Washington town in my teens that was about what happened to us. It had little to do with relative wealth and everything to do with an ugly reality about some small towns.

The 3 things I most dislike about Kansas are:
1. The weather for obvious reasons.
2. Too many religious nutcase neo cons.
3. Lack of high tech jobs.

1) The huge brain drain= TALENT POOL EXODUS
2) The horrible weather
3) the overtly conservative politics
4) JOCO
5) Lack of good jobs in my career field
6) Horrible scenery and outdoor recreation overall

Right now it is the bitter cold. I am sorry that you had that happen to you in a small town. That was the way it was when I moved to Minn. from Kansas. For now it is just the cold that I don't like.

1. The weather extremes
2. The hysteria over the weather extremes, which always spikes my own stress levels
3. The fact that Kansas is one of the reddest of Red States, Some moderation would be nice
4. Food prices, which are stupidly expensive compared to Chicago, where we moved from
Balancing all that off, though, is the friendliness of the people. I have found it very easy to make friends in Kansas, and people have been really nice everywhere I've gone. We're in eastern KS, though, I don't know how the people are further west, but I can't imagine they're all that different.

Oh yeah, and another thing I don't like: no forest preserves! I sure do miss walking the dogs in the forest preserves...

Yes, more heavily wooded regions tend to have less intense wind.
