Things to do in Manhattan?
Can anyone clue me in on some things to do in Manhattan? Good restaurants? Unique/nice shopping? Outdoor hiking/trails? Any info would be appreciated. Thank you!

Let see,
They have Aggieville which is a really nice college area, the downtown (Poyntz Ave) is nice with all the requisite shops and a couple of restaurants. KSU has a pretty campus. There is a zoo called Sunset Zoo that sits at the highest point in town and is neat. There is a golf course west of town that is supposed to be good. The mall is downtown. The river is nice, the flint hills are nice and there is a reseviour north of town.
There is also a town east of there that is famous for antiques I think. Wamega??
Manhatten is a picturesque little village.

Ditto on the things Eddie listed. As far as hiking/walking trails, the Konza Prairie Biological Station south of town has a nice trail. You might also want to check out Kansas State University's website. There are always things to do on/near campus. Some restaurants I like are Little Apple Brewery and Coco Bolos and So Long Saloon in Aggieville.

I used to love Manhattan when I lived there in the 90's. And as a student, I found plenty of things to do which are free. Coming from a large metro, the best thing is to get out of the rat race. I used to take friends to observation point and the area below the dam. And there is a great hiking trail north of the city in the Kanza hills.
But if it is excitement you are looking for, cancel your trip and go to Lawrence. Best music venues/restaurants are to be had there.

Manhattan has two large reservoirs nearby as well. Abundant fishing, hunting, bird watching, water sports, and sight seeing. You might even be lucky enough to see some bald eagles. If you are into off roading, there is a large off road park north of Manhattan on the west side of Tuttle Creek. Manhattan is fairly active in geocaching www.geocaching.com Their history is rich and like the others said, partying is their specialty in Aggieville. You are close to historic Ft Riley, well worth a few days visit for the museums and architecture. Security is pretty strict at Ft Riley since 9/11, but common sense will get you in with no troubles. They search random vehicles thoroughly, so be sure not to have anything firearm related or other contraband when you enter the base. Wamego is the town mentioned to the east. You will also find the area quite scenic and full of old natural stone structures. Enjoy your visit, Glen
