I had one Filipino friend when I previously lived in Overland Park. That suburban city is becoming more diverse over time.

Thank you, I was just checking. I know there are some but not many. I also wanted to check an see how diverse it was in Kansas; considering you don't here much about it. But, you answered that question as well. Thanks again.

The Wichita School District has been hiring Filipino teachers for awhile now. Wichita has a decent-size Asian community.

I saw filipino once while I was getting gas at "The Oasis" gas and gift shop right off of Interstate 70 in Colby, Kansas.

But I don't think he was a local.....I think he was just passing through like I was.

He had a big coffee mug in his hands that said something about Dorothy and the Scarecrow (or something like that). So I'm guessing that he was just a tourist passing thru getting some gas and buying a few overpriced "Kansas trinkets".

Default Topeka

My son told me that they hired some teachers from the Philippines a couple years ago - in science and math I believe. All but smallest towns across the country have become very diverse.

I agree with the post about Wichita. It seems that the Asian community is around the South east area of Wichita.

At one time in our tiny town of less than a thousand people we had three; a Priest and two women. We now have only one woman, the other two have moved. We don't have large numbers of minorities, but we do have quite a few different minorities here! It seems that way all over Kansas. And as a side note, I lived in the Phillipines for 3 years when I was a child - my Dad was in the Navy!
