Default Why is chicano rap ignored

Chicano rap is a genre basically of hiphop. This genre uses lots of spanish slang terms. This genre of music should be heard on radio stations. The artists are complete mexicans or else it wouldnt be chicano rap. Basically its ganster rap that is way better then todays rap thats about rims cars jewelry. Im a supporter of mexican rap music and say you should listen to some. Artists i know of include but not all=mr. Criminal mr. Capone-e big lokote snapper knightowl mr. Sancho mr. Lil one lighter shade of brown brown side califa thugs slick mister one payaso conejo bugsy kryptonite malow mac lil rob mister d greddy loco ms. Sancha capone big capone sal capone cali life style trigger mr. Chino grande and lots more. Basically this music sounds like 90's ganster rap but everyone so caught up with lil wayne and those other rappers to even noticei dont like when mexicans dont listen to mexican music i dont listen to black music (no im not racist) because i want to support my own race that is constantly being put down in garden city ks.
Everyone should check out this genre. Try brown side or cali life style there my personal favorites on youtube. I love the oldschool music style i hate todays music well anyways try it

The radio business is not about playing the "best" music. That is extremely subjective. It's silly to suggest to me what I "should" like to listen to.

Radio is all about playing what the base of listeners want to hear so that they will also hear the advertising. Period. Plain and simple.

If you and your friends want to hear more of a specific genre or artist or songs. CALL the station you otherwise like and ask them to play it. Tell your friends to do the same. If they agree with you, they will and eventually, the station will respond.

But don't tell me what I should like in music.

Just what we need “Basically its ganster rap” more encouragement of street violence. How romantic to make gansters heroes. If it is to be it will be. Good has nothing to do with anything music. If the public stations want to play it they will. Personally I quit listing to radio about 30 years ago. Country music just got boring and never did like hip hop or rap in any form.

IMO, the best radio station for my tastes in KC was just axed, in favor of yet another Top 40 pablum format. The Boulevard, 99.7FM became KISS-FM last week, complete with loads more commercials and Ryan Seacrest in the afternoons!!! (Excuse me, must go gag now...)

The Boulevard was only around for one year, and I just discovered it six months ago. For me, it was the only station worth listening to, in a sea of mediocre (or terrible) terrestrial stations in Kansas City. Looks like I'm switching to satellite now.

Because rap music has been traditionally a black artform as well as the rest of hip hop, Breaking, djing, grafitti. The first chicano rap i heard was kid frost and i liked it. But most people still associate hip hop as a black artform because they invented it.

Good question Joe. The music forum is the place for this subject; there are a few threads that are active on rap and hip hop. Those threads are quite active as well.
