No one here, perhaps. But those demanding amnestia for illegal aliens, through our political process, are definitely advocating a free pass for breaking the law.

And I continue to insist that 'illegal immigration' is an oxymoronic phrase, sort of like 'lawful rape' or 'legal larceny.' If anything, it should be called 'residency theft;' immigration is a legal process, and when not followed, it isn't immigration. The right to live and work in the United States is something that many around the world would--and do--give gold to obtain, waiting on long lists and hoping to get lucky. It is therefore a precious commodity, and a precious commodity can be stolen. Thus, illegal aliens (wherever they hail from), as their first act in my country, steal something of value. And the amnestia movement, of which you may not be part but I assure you is alive and well in my area, wants that theft forgiven and made legal.

I do agree, however, that the biggest problem with the movement to oppose residency theft is the way some racists have co-opted it. It's mighty annoying any time outfits like the KKK agree with me on any subject, even a little bit. For a number of people where I live it's not really about residency rights; they're being disingenuous. It's about them just not liking someone who doesn't look or sound like them. And I consider the racists even more abhorrent than having the right to live and work in my nation stolen.

YES - this is my point exactly.

I think the true stress point of this issue is language. Part of that, of course, stems from the annoyance caused by that percentage of uninvited and unwanted aliens who lack even the courtesy to acquire command of the US's predominant national language. Some US nationals are quite legitimately infuriated to hear demands, for example that their school board meeting be held in Spanish; it annoys me too, and I speak several languages, so for me it is not a matter of difficulty understanding, but a matter of simple principle. But for those whom I privately call 'Murricans'--people for whom the real fundamental issue is that they cherish their xenophobia and don't like other countries even when they visit those other countries--I think language is also the cracking point.

And it is because for the first time we have a very major, audible minority, who are not Hispanic Americans (because an Hispanic American is a citizen, by definition not an alien) but simply illegal aliens, who did not learn English before they snuck in and who are taking their sweet time learning it now. This minority seems to expect that it should be served in its native language until, at our expense, it gets around to learning English. Americans (and non-citizen immigrants who played by the rules) have a right to expect, insist and demand that newcomers learn English swiftly and at their own expense.

That is what really fans the flames. That is what gets multilingual, educated persons into the same opinion group as unilingual, willfully ignorant persons, and many in between. It is the illegal aliens' hugest mistake. Most are willing to work perfectly hard at jobs, so laziness is no excuse. Were illegal aliens to make indecent haste to learn English, and be seen to do so, I think a lot of Americans would take the view: "Ok, granted, they snuck in, it wasn't right, but they aren't demanding services in their own language, they're hiring people to teach them and their kids English, they're embracing life in my country, they're working their butts off. They just want to be in a better place. Well, that sounds like my great-grandfolks, except for a few customs formalities. What the hell, for my money they can stay."

But for language, I believe that is how it would be. If residency thieves would surrender on that one point, they'd probably get everything else they seek. I see no sign of them doing so in mass, so I believe the proper stance is fierce obstinacy: give them nothing, yield not a millimeter on any topic, satisfy no demand. If they don't like the status quo they can return home. As for me, every issue relating to residency theft is negotiable with one caveat: the discussion is held in English, and English alone.

Any residency thief who refuses to take the initiative to learn English is not part of the discussion, has no voice and no viewpoint I need to dignify, and his or her future should be decided without his or her input. And if that person does not like that, that person ought to have abided by US immigration law, and there is still time for him or her to do so--by going home.

This is precisely the type of "brow-beating" used to minipulate and control white people. That almighty threat of....oh, NO! being called a "racist" is used as a weopon to discipline and moderate the behavior of white people. That's fine, call me a racist. Truthfully, I believe everyone is a bit racist. Statistics speak for themselves, specifically when it comes to crime, out of wedlock babies, etc. Our country simply does not have a need for unskilled laborers anymore anyways.

Meanwhile, immigration, legal or otherwise continues to put a serious drain on our resources and environment, our budgets, the effectiveness of our school systems (since many new students don't speak English). I have to laugh when I hear all this propaganda about going "Green". Going green doesn't mean anything unless we can get population growth under control.

I tell you why. Mexicans came into my area and destroyed rental property because they are used to sand and potholes. The never saw grass so they parked in yards and ruined them. Do you have any idea what it costs to fix that? There was a driveway and paved streets. Do you know how many kids stood outside and peed on the trees because they wre too lazy to ge inside?"

Mexican drivers caused several deaths and millions of dollars of damage because they don't know how to drive on ice, snow or fog. This idiot stopped in fog in the middles of a busy Interstate. It took 16 hours to clean the mess. The illegals came with their illegal drugs, expected government handout and special treatment because they are Mexican. You refuse learn to English or obey city, state or federal laws. You refuse to adjust to a different way of life. You drive like you are in Mexico. Every year we have a Mexican round up and send 5-6 busloads of Ilegals to KC for deportation.

If you do not like our laws and you refuse to learn Englsih, go home. Just in case you think I am racist, I have the most wonderful son-in-law in the world, He's Mexican and I love him dearly. If you policed yourself instead of hiding the bad guys in your house, applied for citiznship. and integreated into our communities instead of being standoffish and only supporting Mexican business and churches, you'd be a lot more welcome all over our grand America. But you don't. You are reaping what your countrymen sowed before you. .

It is not up to Americans to adapt to your way of life, support you financially, or learn Spanish. The immigrants who came to America 100 years ago did not sneak like a theif in the night over and flood our borders. They came through Ellis Island. They wanted a new life. They did not want to control a country. They did not vote illegally.. They earned respect. They did not demonstrate and burn the American flag. Mexicans will never earn the respect of most Americans as long as you believe America owes you anything. You sneak, use phony documentation to cheat, disrespect our laws, hide like a coward and continue to do it.

I have Mexican friends and I support Mexican businesses. These business owners all say the same thing: We don't want illegal Mexicans here any more than you do.

This applies to all illegals. Do it right or stay home. Earn our respect, don't whine because you don't get it.

For 400 year we have welcomed immigrants from all over the world and we will continue to do so. However, we will not welcome illegal sneak thieves, drug peddlers or anyone else who does not go through the process to enter our country legally. The problem is we can't tell who is legal or not by looking ane we can't trust your documentation. Therefore we remain suspicious of all hispanics.

Have you ever been to a remote area of Mexico or any other undeveloped country or area? If you had never seen or had a "lawn", would you immediately know that parking on it was not customary? If a child has not been raised with indoor plumbing, is it reasonable to expect him to immediately know not to go outside? If you had never seen snow or ice or fog on the road, would you immediately know how to drive in it?

I am NOT making excuses. I AGREE that it behooves those who come into this country to do so legally -- to learn the customs (not necessarily adapt them) AND the language, lest they limit their opportunities. I have NO tolerance for illegal drugs or illegal activities.

But the point remains that the majority of Hispanics in this country are here LEGALLY. They have as much right to live and work as anyone else. If they break the law, they should suffer the consequences as anyone else would - NO ONE is saying otherwise.

But to be suspicious of all Hispanics and to treat them as second-class citizens - when in fact most of them ARE citizens just as you are - is most certainly racist.

Wait a minute! My Mexican son in law was born in Houston. He wasn't born in third world country and he didn't sneak over the. border with the Mexican third-world diseases. Yep, it was that million legal hispanics who was burning Old Glory, too wasn't it. Illigals, and I don't care whee they ara from have no class, no standing and deserve no respect. Maybe you cozy up to liars and cheats. I don't. As to fog,, give me a break. I had drivers ed to begin with. Most resonable people are smart enough to pull OFFFFFFF on the shoulder. The idiot Mexican did not. He PARKED in the middle of the Interstate and turned off his car and his lights to conserve his battery. He and his family were killled as well as several others. The damage amounted to millions of dollars. The cops were still scraping bones and washing blood off the pavement 16 hours later. Traffic backed up 20 miles. I drove in Mexico. Don't tell me how good the drivers are. And please don't tell me about the houses, yard, or dirt floors. Been there, done it, seen it. As for peeing in the yard, let it be yours. I got the h*ll out of there. I had enough of the Mexicans who destroyed my neighborhood and devalued my house while my taxes were raised to support a shadow school system that didn't teach any of them anything. four cars in the driveway and these people were too lazy to take their child to school. My taxes paid for school bus to take the kids two blocks and return them. Don't tell me these people cannot look out a window and see AMERICAN kids walking to school or their children pooping in the dirt like the dog. And about the yards... the city council paid to print notices in Spanitsh to NOT park int he yard. The good ciitzens that you like so well, read the notice, laughed, and threw in the yard - like they did their grabage out the windows. And did as they pleased. We had a Mexican roundup every year. it took a long time and a lot of wasted money to gain nothing. This current crop of young I will not--heads are a waste of our time and our tax money

My fondest desire is to see congress wake up and change the ancor baby law so it is not very attractive to pregnant Mexicans wtih false documents to drop a kid in any american hospital.

Becaiuse of this group of whiners you and I will have to carry national identification that cannot be duplicated in the near future.. Welcome to the new America - the home of the brave and unfree.

Default If Mexicans ever smiled at people they wouldn't be afraid of them.

I mean really, I see a bunch of guys glaring down any person they see. Who wouldn't not like them. I think you get what you give with the way people treat you.
