Need areas to consider moving to...
So we moved to Lawrence this past May (from Bozeman, MT). However, my husband works in Topeka. Because of cost of housing we are considering other areas. What areas between here and Topeka or around Topeka should we consider?
We have three kids (5, 3 and 9 months). Our 3 year old has special needs and I take her to Children's Mercy and KU Med for her specialists. Our 5 year old will start kindergarten this Fall.
What about Osage City? What others to consider?

You might check Wabaunsee Co. areas like Auburn, Dover, Eskridge, Harveyvile, They used to have some neat little schools there, it's closer and a lot of people commute from that part of the county, and your comming in on I-335 from Harveyville in bad Weather thats a plus

Great! I will check these areas out.
My other concern are school services. My daughter has an IEP and gets (just started this week) getting pysical therapy through the school district. When she gets into kindergarten she will have health needs that need to be met.

Sorry to hijack your post, but can you tell me what your experience has been like in Lawrence? How is it for a family? Lots to do? Does it feel safe, etc? Thanks.

KatWrangler,
I would also look into the smaller communities in Jackson County, KS. It seems to becoming a more popular area.
