La girl needs out!!
Hi everyone!
I'm a California native and need a break! I live in the busy LA/OC area my whole life and things just seem to get crazier and crazier as time goes by. I'm planning on taking a week trip to somewhere RURAL within the next few months. My travel history includes, LA, NYC, Las Vegas. I don't think I've ever been in a small town. I need to chill out and experinice simple living even if its for 7 or 10 days. I really want to go out of my comfort zone of what I know and experinice something wholesome and good without all the hype that surrounds my life. Any suggestions?
Thanks!

What do you consider "rural"? There are many small towns in Kansas, but knowing specifically what you're wanting to experience, would be helpful. Are you looking for B&B's to stay in while on vacation, or hotels? Are considering only Kansas, or anywhere in the mid west/plains states?

Well you can stay in my unfinished basement for free next weekend if you help me lay some sod.
And for kicks I'll drive you around and show you some cows and some corn fields.
It'll be totally awesome. I swear.

I'm open to other states as well. What kind of rural? Hmm.... Good question. I think what I'm hoping for is small town, small community, simple living, few churches. I would prefer not to be around big shopping centers. I hope that helps? I think at this point any town outside of Southern California would be a relief!

I think you should try Lawrence or Wichita. My favorite smaller community is Hays (lived there in the past).

I think you should go to Hays-its the opposite of what you're used to, everyone in town would be fascinated by you. It'd be like Little House on the Prairie circa 2009

I assumed Hays would be too big. The population there is roughly 20,000, melissa.
