Default Relocating to Wichita

Okay..For the past three months i have been seeking employment in Wichita, mostly with relocation assistance..Now i know Wichita is not a big boom city. But employment seeking is starting to make me not wanna move..If only my fiance was not living there i would not be thinking of it. Anyway if anyone is in Wichita with ANY connections to: Media/TV/,Admin,Retail Mgmt or Business Mgmt please let me know. Great work history and no criminal record at all. Over the past three months i have visited twice and its a great city, much different from D.C.. Great living prices and great people..Now if the could just step it up with employment..

Thanks
JL

Wichita is a largely blue collar city and as such it has booms and bust with the rise and fall of the aircraft industry. The aircraft industry is the life blood of the city and the largest employer of its residents. Right now they are not hiring and in fact the largest company, Cessna, is firing (don't know about the others). Even if you are not planning to work directly in the airplane business, it effects the rest of the Wichita economy greatly. So a move to Wichita probably would not be a good idea right now. Wait till things are better.

Exactly. All the people who have lived there for more than 5 or 6 years have told me the same story. They have all the money they can spend for a year or 2 and then have to sell off all the toys for the next 2 years. Wichita has been on a boom for the last few years. It is just now coming off of the highs and the recession has not fully hit. By this time next year I think you will see a bust on home sales which has already started. Prices are coming down a small amount. The Via Christi hospital has completely shut down the Heart transplant unit. Things are bad all over.

There aren't a lot of jobs here unless you are in health care or aviation. I like the indeed.com job site. check it out and good luck.
