Default Johnson County people

Which is a better place to live, Olathe, KS or Overland Park, KS? Just want some opinions. Which has a better quality of life and better schools? Just curious!

Thought you were leaving town...

Now you are moving from "boring" KCMO to the exciting suburbs of Kansas? OK.

I prefer Overland Park over Olathe. I have lived in Overland Park in the past. It has very good employment opportunities in a variety of career fields. Overland Park has a plethora of office parks and a very well educated population. I have never cared for Olathe much at all. To me it seemed several notches below Overland Park in just about everything. Olathe seemed more poorly planned and the people there seemed extremely conservative. In terms of neighborhoods, I like some of the established ones in Overland Park inside the I-435 loop that are closer to Leawood and Prairie Village.

I would echo that. But I left the area in 1990, so my experience is basically from the 80s. At that time, though, Overland Park schools and neighborhoods definitely had the edge IMO.

I still don't like it here and would leave in a heartbeat, but sometimes what you want and what life throws at you are 2 different things. I don't think it's any of your business but my mother in law has taken ill and we've thought to stay here. If I were to leave her here to fend for herself, I would be as rude as you. And I wouldn't want to stoop that low.

I agree with this post completely.

Thank you to those who were kind enough to share thoughts with me about Jo Co. Granted I am on the MO side which I am not crazy about, however Jo Co seems like a much better place to be. I've always thought it was cleaner and prettier over there, and if I have to stay in this area, I think Jo Co would be worth a look.

I was simply asking why you would move to the Kansas suburbs when you have already stated you pretty much hate KC because it's "boring", yet the most boring part of KC is the Kansas side even though there are some nice suburbs over there.

I also find it odd that a person that lives in KC wouldn’t just drive down and figure out the difference between OP and Olathe. It’s pretty obvious, OP is better, but it’s also generally more expensive than Olathe. not that you care about my opinion.

Sorry about whatever family issues you have.

I like Overland Park better. And I especially like southern Overland Park, the newer areas.

Not to me. I guess it depends what you are looking for and what you consider fun. I occasionally enjoy going to a Royals game, a Chiefs game or dinner on the Plaza. But if I were banned from Missouri I'd be just fine staying in Kansas and it wouldn't be a big deal; there's plenty to do here and I like it here.
