Not trying to call worthless out, but I think you made that story up. I know people from around that area and believe me if someone would have found out juicy gossip like that, the entire tri-county area would have known within 20 minutes. I highly doubt that everyone has kept it a secret since 1984.

unfortunately, the majority of small town people are trusting of friends, family and even strangers and welcome the country style of hospitality. there isnt any such thing as a perfect place in which to live, but where you call home, where you are the most comfortable and trust your neighbors is probably what you are going to consider a good place to live. just remember that small towns offer alot of things and the slow pace can be as much as a negative as it seems to be a positive.

Well it is a state where they want to not accecpt eveloution as fact.
I guess they still beleive that the big invisible guy in the sky story that blinked and every thing came into being. LOL
That he came to earty inpregnated a virgin and that part of the story is very important to them.
lived as a man to die [as some said jesus had a bad week end for our sins] for these imperfect humans who "HE" created, so we can go to this wonderful place in the sky,
God is all powerful all knowing and every where but he needs your money. He can do anything but is not very good at accounting.
He seems to not be able to keep the child molestors out of the church and he created satan to mislead his faithful, Like Jimmy I have sinned against you swagert. Every time a faithful sins it is satan but if you do not live like they tell you you are dammed to hell.
They love unborn people but the min, they drop from the womb it is the rush limbaugh you are on your own sucker. do the best you can becasue things like national health care is evil I tell you EVIL.
Then the only time they will help is when you are like the shivo case brain dead and they will spend any amount to keep that plug in the wall. it is evil I tell you evil to unplug.
Dont gamble, have sex for fun, or even think of evoloution as fact. It is much more plausable to think that this big guy in the sky is real, even though there is not one bit of evidence to prove it so..
What a game, no tax, a beliefe system that is so out there it is much easier to believe in ufo's and that they put us here, LOL.
And every time they are wrong it was the devil made me do it or the light is growing brighter or some other sill line.
I guess if I had that job I would do what ever to protect it also. its a good one, better than drugs or numbers as it is all legal.

Wow, and who is the ignorant one? Sounds like anyone who dares to question your moral authority is a piece of trash. It's harder to believe in something you can't see and have faith than stand on the sidelines criticizing people for it. I've never witnessed anyone in Kansas persecuting anyone else for their faith but then I guess you have that taken care of.

I grew up in SE Kansas, after I graduated college I moved out of state, same with my siblings, they all left. Simply no jobs for college grads, at least that pay decently. Now I live in NE Oklahoma, incredible place to live! My in-laws still live in Parsons Kansas. They are constantly complaining about the high taxes, especially property taxes, twice as high as what we pay in Oklahoma. Plus other taxes are ridiculous there, tags for vehicles, like 6 X's more than Oklahoma. Hell they even started taxing my father in laws gas golf cart!! Fortunately we do not have those type issue here in Oklahoma.

I agree that nobody is persecuted in Kansas but the state does seem to have more than its share of religious nuts running things. I mean, it is one thing if you want to believe the Earth is flat and only 6000 years old and we were all created in the blink of an eye by some awsome being who made everything in 6 24 hour days BUT please do not try to pass that off as "science" to my kids because I am having NONE of it.

But at the same time do you understand the 'big bang theory' and the ' theory of evolution' are just that, theories and are no more proven than intelligent design? There's a lot of 'missing links' no pund intended in Darwin's theory. He never actually saw an animal evolve, and couldn't explain how simple things like the eye actually came to be. The eye serves no purpose until it is fully developed which doesn't mesh with evolutionary theory. The eye must have just been created. I don't understand what the big problem is with including all the unproven theories, including intelligent design. Sounds a little narrow minded to believe the Earth could only have been created by a big bang with the following of evolving organisms. Is there room for any type of debate or does someone know something I don't?

wohh there JD, a theory is based on facts. the fact that science has dug up. the remains of the beings that came before us. the fact that the universe is expanding and had to have and out put of energy and it took many millions of years to expand to the size it is now. the facts that there are whole time lines of animals and plants that the bible forgets to mention. the whole Jurassic thing if you remember.
And yes science debates its facts and what they mean, but they correct the theory when new facts come up.
Faith by deff. is believing in something without evidence.
I can not do this it is just silly. But this by it self does not mean that religion is wrong, even a blind squirrel gets a nut once in a while.
But the religious people argue that look at that tree it had to be put there by god. The so called intelligent design argument. It does not hole water because even if you jump the canyon and say ok it proves intelligent design which it does not, then what is to say little green men from Andromeda did not put us and it here? nothing stops us from having faith in that.
There is no proof that god exists and no proof that the bible is his word if he does. In fact God seems to take very hands off approach of his creation if he even does exist.
You can debate the argument of creation vs evolution but on the creation side there is no fact to base it on. Other wise you would not need faith.
The religious believers will not change their belief or the bible when new facts come up. but they must change the facts to fit the bible as it is the unerring word of god. but the science on the other hand will change the theory to fit the new facts. Evolution now is not the same as it was when Darwin first stated his theory, new facts have tweaked it.
And for those fact challenged people out there, Darwin did not teach we came from prim mates but that we both had common ancestors and split of to develop in different directions, Do you really want to hamstring your kids by having them taught the crap that that 25 million dollar museum in KY shows a man riding a trex? You are asking your kids to think as stupid as the westboro baptist idiots are.

If you ever actually took the time to read the Bible most of those 'contradictions' would clear themselves up, most people who aren't religious have never read a chapter of it but somehow are subject matter experts, so don't waste my time.
I don't appreciate your condescending attitude regarding all things religious. I'd rather teach my kids to believe in something bigger than themselves than to believe they were derived from primates. I guess there is too many miraculous things that have happened in my 'lowly' 'undereducated' life for me not to believe in God. You aren't going to make too many friends thinking that religious people are stupid people who can't comprehend scientific theory.
