Wichita full of speed traps.
Watch out especially if you have an out of state lisc. plate in Wichita. I knew that Wichita had many 40mph speed traps but I was on central going 45 and cars were passing me at 60. I was the slowest car on the road in the far right lane. Cars were whipping around me. I saw the cop sitting in the speed trap and did not even think twice about it as I was going slower than all the other traffic. After I passed and the cop saw the out of state plates he pulled out and pulled me over having the balls to ask where the fire was. He sited me for 51 which he lied about to make the ticket not look stupid. I have been told by residents here that out of state plates are targeted. So all you people who visit watch out for speed traps and go to speed trap .com and find the infamous traps and avoid them. The city has no other way to make $ but harass people who are out of state. The taxes are the highest in the states around it and they still have to steal form the 4 visitors that come here. What a joke of a city.

Here is a better one, have something intelligent to say. Do you always have to interject with nonsensical banter?
No one else in Wichita drives even close to the speed limit. I guess all those tight underwear, pointed boots and drug store cowboy hats are inhibiting the last two brain cells of those wana be cow boys. You have to grow up sometime.

You should grow up Talbet. You sound like a 3 year old. Reminds me of Upandrunning... oh wait...
Back to the OP. Let's put two and two together. You were speeding, a cop pulled you over. Simple as that.

Suggesting you drive the speed limit is nonsensical banter? When I drive in cities in other states, I make sure to drive the speed limit, just for the reason you mentioned in the original post. Why risk getting pulled over, when police everywhere look for out of state drivers? It's easy revenue for the city/state, because the traffic "offender" is less likely to contest the ticket, assuming they're just passing through, rather than transplants.

Sorry to burst your bubble but you wont find too many "Cowboys" here.
WPD are no better or worse than anywhere else.
Cops nailing out of state people probably happens everywhere.

i think the point was there were pple exceeding the speed limit to a greater degree, and yet he was chosen as the gooden goose. i would be irritated too if i saw pple passing me and yet i was the one that was stopped. in fact that happened to me on the interstate in iowa. a vette had passed me like i was standing still, and moments later the cop turns around after me. i was hurrying to get to a dental appointment, in pain and needing a tooth extracted. he still didnt cut me a break, such is life. you could have asked to see the radar, but they can run that up to where they want it by setting it to increase by their own speed. so sometimes it seems to have to do with the what kind of car you drive as well. that being a general statement not specific to wichita. i usually see older cars pulled over when ive traveled. moral of the story go the speed limit in wichita.

Many roads are underposted to generate ticket money. The best bet would be to keep a keen eye out for cops and/or invest in a radar/laser box. Sometimes cops like to focus on out-of-state drivers because they know it's not likely the driver will take it to court, most out-of-state drivers have to just pay the ticket and can't fight it or get a court date. Witchta always was known for driver "traps" Be it for speed or just something else.

That's so true. No matter what state I'm in, as soon as I see lower speed limits nearing smaller towns, I drive thel imit -- or under the limit. That's how they generate revenue. Try driving up to Door County, Wisconsin sometime if you want to see speed traps.
