Glad to hear it worked out. There are some crazy drivers there, particularly because driving in JOCO is frustrating because the traffic lights are not timed at all on major thoroughfares (like 119th and 95th street). There are some major roads in Detroit that I can sail through for miles and miles if I time the lights right, and that doesn't exist really in Overland Park. Most of my "missed encounters" were soccer moms on the phone, kids new to driving, people thinking they can go in whatever lane they want, nothing as crazy as driving in Chicago is.

Enjoy Overland Park!

Is there a reason that you are moving to Olathe? One of the problems with Olathe is that they were not prepared for the growth that they experienced throughout the 1990s and the 2000s. Traffic is really quite bad most of the time. Property taxes in Olathe are high, and you will find that out when you go to register your car. Overland Park would be a much better choice, and it's adjacent to part of Olathe. Olathe has way too many abandoned and substandard strip malls and other properties (including foreclosed residential properties).

We didn't move to Olathe. We moved to Overland Park and we really like it so far (except for the humidity). The reason we considered Olathe in the first place is because I saw some favorable comments in this forum - but once we came to actually check out the area we quickly decided on Overland Park. Our apartment is near 119th and Hwy.69. What a nice area!
